Full Job Description
OVERVIEW:

The Data Scientist is a key member of the Business Intelligence and Insights Team and is responsible for leveraging advanced analytics, statistical methodologies, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and generate actionable insights that support strategic decision-making across the firm. This role develops predictive analytics and forecasts to improve business performance, operational efficiency, talent planning, client service, and financial outcomes.

The Data Scientist partners with Data Science leadership to apply advanced analytics and AI-enabled solutions to complex business challenges. This role utilizes data from enterprise platforms, including Cobalt and other firm systems, to develop innovative analytical models and support the firm's data-driven decision-making capabilities.

The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise with business acumen and a passion for translating complex data into actionable recommendations.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Advanced Analytics
• Develop predictive models, statistical analyses, and forecast solutions to support business objectives
• Identify trends, patterns, opportunities, and risks within large and complex datasets
• Conduct exploratory data analysis to uncover actionable insights and business recommendations
• Design and implement methodologies for measuring business performance and operational effectiveness
• Utilize advanced statistical techniques to solve complex business problems

Data Modeling & Innovation
• Build and maintain analytical models supporting firm operations, financial performance, staffing, client service, and practice group initiatives
• Develop and optimize data models using data sourced from Cobalt and other enterprise systems
• Evaluate emerging analytical tools, machine learning, and artificial intelligence technologies
• Develop reusable analytical frameworks, tools, and methodologies that support scalable analytics across the firm
• Collaborate with internal teams to establish best practices for advanced analytics and model development

Artificial Intelligence & Automation
• Explore, develop, and implement AI-enabled solutions that improve business decision-making and operational efficiency
• Leverage Python and Agentic AI technologies to automate analytical workflows and accelerate insight generation
• Identify opportunities to apply machine learning and intelligent automation to business challenges
• Support the responsible and effective use of emerging AI technologies throughout the firm

Strategic Partnership
• Support strategic planning initiatives through data-driven insights and performance analyses
• Translate business requirements into analytical solutions that drive measurable business outcomes
• Partner with Business Intelligence, Data Governance, and BI Development team members to promote enterprise analytics standards

QUALIFICATIONS:

Skills and Abilities:
• Bachelor's Degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, Analytics, or related discipline
• Master's Degree in Data Science, Statistics, Analytics, Computer Science, or related field preferred
• 1-3 years of experience in advanced analytics, data science, business intelligence, or related disciplines
• Proficiency in SQL and relational database concepts
• Proficiency in Python for analytics, automation, machine learning, and AI applications
• Experience working with Agentic AI, large language models (LLMs), artificial intelligence platforms, or intelligent automation technologies preferred
• Strong understanding of predictive modeling, machine learning, statistical methods, and forecasting techniques
• Experience working with large datasets, data warehouses, and enterprise reporting environments
• Experience with Power BI, Tableau, or other data visualization tools
• Experience working with Cobalt or similar enterprise business platforms preferred
• Exceptional analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to translate complex analytical findings into actionable business recommendations
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail and commitment to data quality
• Self-starter with the ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously
• Professional services or law firm experience preferred
• Collaborative, innovative, and continuously focused on learning emerging technologies and analytical methodologies
