Full Job Description
We are looking for a talented Senior Data Scientist with strong ML and causal inference experience to lead the analytics, data science, and strategy for our core personalization algorithms that power key member experiences. You will partner closely with product management and engineering teams to shape and execute our personalization roadmap, and will be a key thought partner in defining how we evolve our personalization capabilities powered by advanced ML/AI. In this role, you will: • Leverage experimentation, causal inference methods or statistically sound analyses to drive actionable insights and help shape our understanding of how personalization algorithms influence member discovery journeys. • Build metrics and measurement frameworks that are statistically and causally robust to empower decision-making for stakeholders and product features that can deliver member joy. • Establish strong partnerships with team members and diverse stakeholders across the business. • Facilitate ownership and accountability by ensuring that the team is producing trustworthy and high-quality outputs that influence the decisions and direction of a variety of areas of Netflix. • Proactively explore trends in content discovery of members to surface future opportunities. • Work independently and drive your own projects. To be successful in this role, you have: • An advanced degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, or a related quantitative field. • 5+ years of relevant experience in one or more data science roles. • Expertise in statistical analysis methods, most notably experimentation, causal inference, and statistical learning methods. • Strong data manipulation and quantitative programming skills in SQL or Python. • Exceptional communication with technical and non-technical audiences; highly effective at developing meaningful stakeholder relationships and deep domain expertise. • Comfort with ambiguity; ability to thrive with minimal oversight and process. • Embodies the while bringing a new perspective to continue improving our culture. Generally, our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. To determine your personal top of market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range. The range for this role is $372,000.00 - $600,000.00. This compensation range will vary based on location. Netflix provides comprehensive benefits including Health Plans, Mental Health support, a 401(k) Retirement Plan with employer match, Stock Option Program, Disability Programs, Health Savings and Flexible Spending Accounts, Family-forming benefits, and Life and Serious Injury Benefits. We also offer paid leave of absence programs. Full-time hourly employees accrue 35 days annually for paid time off to be used for vacation, holidays, and sick paid time off.
