Full Job Description

What you’ll be doing

CIBC Global Asset Management (GAM) is a leading North American investment firm with a bold, client-focused approach to delivering investment solutions across institutional, private wealth, and retail channels. As a Data Product Owner, GAM Distribution Platforms, you’ll lead the business ownership of investment product data used across our public website, advisor-facing channels, and evolving digital distribution platforms. You’ll define the product data vision, maintain a prioritized backlog, and establish the standards, business rules, and acceptance criteria that keep data accurate, governed, and fit for use. You’ll oversee lifecycle governance and operating controls, including data dictionaries, lineage, issue management, validation routines, and launch readiness for new products and enhancements. Working closely with Product, Technology, Marketing, operational data stewards, and external partners, you’ll help shape scalable, transparent data delivery practices that support high-quality client and advisor experiences.

At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. Details on your work arrangement (proportion of on-site and remote work) will be discussed at the time of your interview.

The expected annualized base salary range for this role is $92,490 to $127,200.

The base salary is determined by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s skills, experience, and job-related knowledge, as well as geographic location and specific business needs. Our compensation philosophy supports ongoing growth and development, enabling progression within the salary range as team members advance in their roles.

In addition to base pay, compensation for this role includes participation in an annual discretionary incentive or bonus program.

We are committed to providing fair, equitable, and competitive compensation opportunities for all employees and we encourage open conversations about compensation throughout the recruitment process

How you’ll succeed

  • Own product data strategy and delivery - Lead the vision, prioritized backlog, acceptance criteria, and delivery trade-offs for investment product data across the asset management website, advisor-facing channels, and future enterprise distribution platforms, ensuring information consistency across internal systems and alignment with the product data dictionary and established business rules.

  • Establish governance and standards - Own the product data dictionary, define and approve business rules governing the representation of exchange-traded fund (ETF), mutual fund, alternative investment, and portfolio strategy data across all channels, and own all data lineage documentation, override processes, central repositories, and operating artifacts required to support auditability and business continuity.

  • Drive data quality and controls - Lead recurring data integrity checks against source data, manage a centralized issue log tracking each issue from identification through remediation and closure, validate external product data outputs, and coordinate data review prior to go-live for new product launches and fund data changes.

  • Coordinate cross-functional delivery - Partner with operational data stewards, Product, Technology, and external data providers to triage issues, establish ownership, monitor remediation, and validate closure. Own coordination with external providers and distribution partners on data maintenance, issue escalation, and remediation tracking, working closely with Product Management on all partner-related requests.

  • Enable scalable platform operations - Partner with Process Engineering, Technology, and platform teams to define requirements for automated quality checks, exception reporting, Jira workflows, service level agreements (SLAs), release management, and production-readiness controls, while supporting launch readiness with GAM Product, Fund Valuation, and Investment Oversight and Performance.

  • Support enterprise growth - Extend product data governance and delivery practices to enterprise distribution channels, including advisor-facing platforms, application programming interfaces (APIs), and future Wealth data distribution capabilities, ensuring consistent data standards, shared priorities, and transparent delivery decisions across all channels.

Who you are

  • You have deep investment product data expertise. You understand mutual fund, ETF, alternative investment, and portfolio strategy data, including net asset value (NAV), performance, characteristics, allocations, distributions, ratings, and public or advisor-facing product content.

  • You can demonstrate experience in data governance, metadata, lineage documentation, business rules, controls, validation standards, and issue management. It’s an asset if you’ve supported investment management, wealth technology, financial technology, or enterprise banking environments.

  • You act like an owner. You’re comfortable managing a backlog of issues, enhancements, and control requirements while balancing business impact, feasibility, risk, and cross-functional dependencies.

  • Your influence makes a difference. You build alignment across Product, Technology, vendors, operational teams, and governance partners, and you can move work forward effectively without direct authority.

  • You’re digitally savvy. You have working knowledge of tools and environments such as Jira, Confluence, data dictionaries, lineage documentation, Databricks, APIs, data feeds, data quality monitoring tools, Power BI, and release or production support processes.

  • You have relevant experience. You bring 5+ years of experience in product management, data product ownership, data governance, or a related discipline, ideally within asset management, Wealth Tech, FinTech, or financial services.

  • You know that details matter. You bring strong judgment, problem-solving, prioritization, and follow-through in a regulated environment where external-facing data quality is critical.

  • Values matter to you. You bring your real self to work, and you live our values - trust, teamwork, and accountability.
