Job Description

We are seeking an experienced professional to own the product lifecycle for our core data-sharing and compliance platforms within the GDI&A Enterprise Data Platform (EDP) organization. As the Product Manager for Data Access, Privacy, and Governance, you will serve as the critical bridge between engineering, business units, and the Office of the General Counsel (OGC) to ensure our data products are secure, compliant, and highly performant. This role requires a strong technical background and demonstrated experience in data platform product management, identity and access management (IAM), privacy governance, and cloud-native architectures.

Responsibilities include the end-to-end ownership of product strategy, requirements authoring, and agile delivery execution, from regulatory mandate through production release, working within mixed-skill teams and in close partnership with engineers, legal counsel, privacy officers, and senior business stakeholders. By leveraging deep technical familiarity and a compliance-first product mindset, you will drive scalable platform capabilities that protect Ford's data assets, enable seamless access provisioning, and deliver measurable business value at scale.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary product liaison to the Office of the General Counsel (OGC), privacy officers, and security teams, translating complex legal and regulatory mandates (GDPR, CCPA, etc.) into scalable platform capabilities
  • Write comprehensive, high-quality Business Requirement Documents (BRDs) and Product Requirement Documents (PRDs) that clearly define the "what" and "why" for engineering teams
  • Establish, track, and align quarterly Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) across multiple teams, managing the product backlog and ruthlessly prioritizing features based on business value, compliance risk, and technical feasibility
  • Lead daily standups, sprint planning, backlog grooming, and retrospectives for the engineering team
  • Coordinate dependencies, risks, and timelines across multiple distributed teams by leading Scrum of Scrums and cross-functional syncs
  • Drive weekly and monthly operational reviews and product reviews with stakeholders to report on platform health, user adoption, and roadmap progress
  • Define and execute end-to-end strategies for complex cloud migrations (e.g., legacy and on-premise data platforms to public cloud) and massive-scale user and service account migrations, ensuring minimal operational disruption and systematically eliminating technical debt
  • Actively participate in and lead technical and architectural reviews with senior engineers and architects to ensure platform scalability, security, and alignment with modern design patterns
  • Leverage your technical background to design and evaluate microservice API architectures that enable seamless, automated, and secure data access provisioning
  • Utilize familiarity with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) to guide integration with cloud-native data warehousing, Identity and Access Management (IAM), and data protection tools
  • Demonstrate exceptional presentation and communication skills, tailoring complex technical concepts into clear, compelling narratives for audiences ranging from software developers to VP-level executives and legal counsel
  • Thrive in an agile delivery environment, collaborating closely with engineering, legal, security, and cross-functional business stakeholders to drive execution excellence

Qualifications

We recognize that no one person will embody every single quality or skill listed below. If you are passionate about data governance and have a strong foundation in product management and cloud-native platform delivery, we encourage you to apply.

Education:
  • Requires a bachelor's or foreign equivalent degree in computer science, information technology or a technology related field
  • Master's degree in a related field is a strong plus

Experience:
  • 5+ years of experience as a Product Manager, Product Owner, or Technical Program Manager managing data platforms, identity and access management (IAM), or privacy and governance products
  • Proven experience designing and executing end-to-end cloud migration strategies, or leading large-scale user and service account migrations with minimal business disruption
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills, analytical thinking, and the ability to communicate complex technical and regulatory concepts effectively to diverse stakeholder audiences
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional, globally distributed team

Required Technical Experience:
  • Prior technical experience working with microservice API architectures and integrations, with the ability to read API documentation and participate deeply in technical system design discussions
  • Hands-on experience or strong familiarity with the Google Cloud Platform (GCP) ecosystem, including BigQuery, Cloud IAM, Cloud DLP, or Google Cloud Storage
  • Proven track record of running Agile ceremonies, leading Scrums and Scrum of Scrums, and managing delivery timelines across distributed teams
  • Experience working within highly regulated environments, partnering closely with legal (OGC), compliance, or risk management teams
  • Exceptional ability to write clear, structured, and detailed BRDs and PRDs that translate regulatory and business needs into actionable engineering requirements
  • Outstanding oral presentation, storytelling, and slide-building skills, with a proven ability to influence stakeholders without direct authority

Preferred Experience:
  • Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO), Professional Scrum Product Owner (PSPO), SAFe Product Owner/Product Manager (POPM), PIPM, or equivalent Agile certifications
  • Strong SQL knowledge, alongside familiarity with data governance tools such as OneTrust or Collibra
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Looker or Power BI
  • Familiarity with automated consent frameworks, data classification, and privacy-by-design principles in cloud-native environments
