As a Data Integration Specialist, you will autonomously contribute to various initiatives by engineering data solutions for analytics purposes. You will be responsible for providing business value through the creation, maintenance, implementation of back-end data solutions (ie. Source System Data Store & Business Data Store) through the full software development lifecycle.

How you will create impact:

  • Autonomously execute the appropriate data extraction, cleaning, reconciliation, and preparation processes required for the development of analytics solutions & understand the data requirements of a solution and complete simple analysis to assess data characteristics.
  • Work with data engineering tools: general purpose languages used in data engineering or generally in BI and related framework or interfaces, data querying and data handling and DevOps platforms.
  • Autonomously contribute to assessing data quality and building automated controls.
  • Build data solutions (data models, data pipelines, APIs and more).
  • Develop analytic solutions to solve business problems by understanding the role of data in reporting, metrics, predictive models, and other analytic solutions within the BI Environment.
  • Autonomously deliver production ready code by assessing the data solution and follow best practices and standards (no technical debt, automation, scalable solution, incremental load, etc.) with the support of senior resources.
  • Apply design principles based on the solution and best practice in terms of data handling (ex: security, governance), the SDLC (ex: unit testing), production code standards and meeting SLAs (ex: low latency responses).
  • Understand the insurance domain (metrics, KPI, key insurance concept), business objectives and how your own tasks contribute to meeting the business objectives.

  • You have 3-5 years of experience in Data Engineering/Integration or other relevant field.
  • You have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or other relevant field.
  • You have experience solving standard problems by analyzing possible solutions by using our experience, judgment and precedent & challenging status quo.
  • You have good knowledge and understanding of data analysis, programing, modeling techniques, data warehouse and data management, research, architecture and design.
  • Experience with following technologies is required: SQL and Relational databases (Azure Synapse / SQL Server), Git (Azure DevOps and GitHub), Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
  • Experience with following technologies is an asset: Databricks, Python, ADLS, Power BI, Feature Store, R (Shiny app).

  • You will be subject to a Background check as a condition of employment, in the event you are the successful candidate.
  • Proficiency in both English and French is essential to the main duties in this role, including servicing and communicating primarily with majority anglophone and francophone clients, groups, and teams. The essential non-French duties are not assignable to adjacent or other team members.

Salary information

Expected salary range $69,660.00to$116,100.00CAD

Salary placement

The salary amount for the successful candidate is determined by Co-operators in its discretion and will vary depending on several criteria including but not limited to: local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualification, experience and education.

Incentive/Variable pay

Employees may also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn additional compensation tied to individual and/or business performance, or other business metrics.
