Role: Data Governance Specialist
Location: Wooster OH (Onsite)
Duration: Long Term
Key Accountabilities
Design and rollout of the client's Data Governance Framework covering Data Ownership & Stewardship, Data Standards & Quality, and Access, Security & Usage Controls.
Evaluate, recommend, and configure governance tooling aligned to the client's Databricks Unity Catalog ecosystem (native Unity Catalog features and other data governance tools).
Build and maintain the enterprise Data Catalog and Business Data Dictionary
Design and implement end-to-end Data Lineage tracking from Guidewire source systems through bronze, silver, and gold layers.
Define and enforce Data Quality rules and profiling standards across the Medallion Architecture layers; coordinate with the dbt transformation team for quality gate integration.
Establish and enforce Data Security classification and access control policies
Define governance KPIs
Collaborate with the Data Architecture, Engineering, and BI teams to embed governance controls into platform workflows without creating delivery bottlenecks.
Participate in client-facing governance reviews with client stakeholders (including the parallel governance workstream
Document governance policies, standards, and procedures into the client's governance knowledge base; deliver training and enablement for data stewards and owners.
Must-Have Skills & Experience
Hands-on Data Governance experience including framework design, stewardship operating models, policy enforcement

Strong expertise in data quality management, data profiling, and standardization techniques across large-scale enterprise datasets, CDE identification
Experience implementing Data Catalogs and Business Data Dictionaries at scale across multiple business domains.
Hands-on experience with data lineage design and documentation across multi-layer Lakehouse architectures (Bronze / Silver / Gold or equivalent).
Working knowledge of data security classification frameworks and access control enforcement in cloud data platforms (column masking, row-level security, tag-based policies).
Strong SQL proficiency and comfort working with structured data at scale; familiarity with Delta Lake or similar table formats preferred.
Experience operating within Agile delivery models, contributing to sprint planning, backlog grooming, and milestone-based governance delivery.

Nice-to-Have Skills
Familiarity with enterprise data catalog/lineage tools, particularly experience migrating or bridging to Unity Catalog.
Experience in the P&C Insurance domain and understanding of insurance data governance best practices.
Knowledge of data privacy and regulatory frameworks (NAIC Model Privacy Act, PCI-DSS, GDPR, CCPA) and their impact on data governance policies.
Familiarity with dbt Core/Cloud for embedding data quality tests and metadata documentation within transformation pipelines.
Experience with BI governance (Power BI semantic model governance, certified datasets, report lineage) to extend governance posture to analytics layer.
Certifications in Databricks Data Governance, Microsoft Purview, or equivalent data governance platforms.
