Data Engineer Sr is responsible for providing strategic leadership and direction for data-related projects. The role will partner closely with at least one Line of Business to maintain their data model in alignment with standards and architecture. The Data Engineer Senior will review data models, evolve and implement OneAmerica Ways around data, and design and execute on continuous improvement efforts.
Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:- Maintain a holistic view of the scope of all data projects across a line of business looking for potential project collisions
- Provide project consultation including reviewing Data Architecture overall approach at project level and looking for opportunities for component reuse.
- Set Data Modeling standards and processes
- Perform data model audits for standards compliance
- Maintain conceptual data models of each line of business
- Understand the complete path of data within the entire line of business
- Develop an in-depth understanding of the business data needs and the ability to align those business needs with the overall Enterprise data strategy
- Partner with the Enterprise Data Architect to influence, understand, and implement the Enterprise Data Strategy
Required Experience or Education:- Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related discipline
- 5+ years of experience in a data architecture-related role
- 5+ years of experience data modeling data solutions including but not limited to:
- ODS
- Data Warehouse
- Data Integration Hub
- OLTP/OLAP
- Or Equivalent knowledge
- 5+ years of experience data modeling, querying, and performance tuning relational DBMS (Oracle, SQL Server, DB2)
- Expert SQL skills and demonstrated ability to write and debug complex SQL for purposes of analysis and translation of data needs into back end structures
- Demonstrated experience in work estimation and management
- Familiarity working on agile teams
- Familiar with DevOps concepts and methodologies
Preferred Experience or Education:- Experience with recent data technologies (NOSQL, Hadoop, RedShift, etc.) preferred
- Experience with one or more programming languages, including but not limited to:
- Experience with test driven development practices
- Experience with NoSQL database technology
- Experience working in a DevOps environment
- Web-based technology experience (browsers, CSS, XML, JavaScript, jQuery, JSON) preferred
- Master's degree in Data Analytics or similar field
- CDMP certification, Mastery Level
Salary Band:6C
This selected candidate will be expected to work hybrid in Indianapolis, IN. The candidate will also be expected to physically return to the office in CA, IN or ME as business needs dictate or for team building and collaboration.
