Job Description

As a Data Engineer at GardaWorld, you will work closely with our data analytics and applications teams to develop solutions for a wide variety of business needs. You will have the opportunity to contribute to new and existing initiatives, automate processes, and help improve overall system efficiency. This is a hands-on role where you will be expected to actively participate in data warehousing, automation, and many ad-hoc solutions, from designing and coding to testing and deployment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Active participation on the data engineering team, supporting data analytics and business applications teams by developing, maintaining, and optimizing data solutions.
  • Build, test, and deploy automation scripts to streamline business operations.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code using SQL, Python, and other tools.
  • Integrate with third-party APIs and data sources.
  • Work with SQL databases to store, query, and retrieve data.
  • Assist in troubleshooting, debugging, and optimizing existing code and solutions.
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to improving development practices and workflows.
  • Collaborate using Git version control for managing and tracking changes across solutions.
Required Skills
  • SQL: Ability to work with relational databases.
  • ETL: Ability to work with different ETL tools.
  • Python: Experience with Python for scripting and automation.
  • APIs: Experience in using APIs for seamless data exchange.
  • JSON: Familiarity with JSON for data exchange between systems.
  • Version Control Systems (VCS): Proficiency with Git for managing code changes, collaboration, and deployment.
Preferred Skills
  • Power BI: Experience with Power BI, specifically creating ETLs to feed reporting.

  • MongoDB: Experience with MongoDB or other NoSQL databases.
  • GitHub: Knowledge of GitHub for version control, code collaboration, and deployment pipelines.
  • VBA: Experience creating Excel Macros.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field or 3 years of experience in similar roles. (A combination of education and experience may be considered)

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
