BCBST is hiring a Data Consultant to support Actuarial processes by producing routine and ad-hoc reports, as well as maintaining, modifying, and augmenting the underlying code of those reports. They will also work closely with the Actuarial team to conceptualize and develop new reports that enhance organizational insights.
In addition to the required qualifications, preferred qualifications are experience in reporting and data analysis, proficiency in SQL, Python, and SAS Enterprise Guide, and capability of managing multiple assignments independently. Experience with healthcare data is also preferred.

Job Responsibilities
- Summarize findings for logical presentation and work with business contacts to develop effective product and process solutions
- Developing and Maintaining the database of past claims to support the actuarial processes of determining premium rates for health insurance products.
- Analyze large amounts of complex data for drivers of business and/or industry trends
- Ensure that any ad hoc data requests are done in an accurate and timely manner and presented in a clear, organized fashion
Job Qualifications
Education
- Bachelors Degree in a quantitative/ research discipline
Experience
- 5 years - Reporting, data analysis, or similar experience required.
Skills\Certifications
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and Powerpoint)
- Proficient oral and written communication skills
- Accuracy and attention to detail
