Overview

The Data Center Structured Cabling Specialist is responsible for the planning, installation, testing, documentation, and maintenance of structured cabling supporting enterprise data centers and infrastructure. This role ensures that copper and fiber optic cabling infrastructure is installed according to industry standards, enabling reliable connectivity for servers, storage, network equipment, telecommunications systems, and critical business applications. This position possesses extensive experience with structured cabling, data center best practices, cable management, and industry standards such as ANSI/TIA, BICSI, and ISO/IEC.

This position requires the ability to work independently with minimal supervision while exercising sound judgment and discretion in carrying out assigned responsibilities, particularly those involving critical business operations. The incumbent is expected to analyze situations, evaluate alternatives, and make well-informed decisions within established policies and procedures. Success in this role requires strong organizational and time management skills, the ability to prioritize competing priorities effectively, and a consistent track record of meeting project milestones and deadlines.

Qualifications

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelors or Associate degree in Information Technology, Electronics, Telecommunications, or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of structured cabling experience in enterprise data centers.
  • Experience installing and troubleshooting copper and fiber optic cabling.
  • Strong understanding of data center infrastructure.
  • Experience with cable management systems and rack layouts.
  • Knowledge of telecommunications rooms, MDFs, IDFs, and network closets.
  • Ability to read blueprints, rack elevations, and cabling diagrams.
  • Experience using cable certification and fiber testing equipment.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and infrastructure documentation tools.
  • Understands hospital business operations and structure, general requirements in an integrated delivery system, and use of IT applications in the practicing healthcare environment.
  • Open to travelling up to 50% of the time.

Preferred qualifications:

  • BICSI Installer 2 (Copper/Fiber) or BICSI Technician or BICSI Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD)
  • Certified Fiber Optic Technician (CFOT)
  • Data Center Operations experience

A reasonable compensation estimate for this role, which includes estimated wages, benefits, and other forms of compensation, is $68,640.00 to $93,600.00 on an annualized basis. The compensation estimate noted above is specific to California and has not been adjusted for any other geographic location. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.
