Position Overview

Align is seeking a Data Center Facility Infrastructure Advisor with 5 to 7 years of experience in data centers or other mission-critical environments, supported by a strong MEP background. This customer-facing role focuses on infrastructure analysis, remediation planning, capacity and demand assessment, and project management. You will evaluate data center environments, identify system vulnerabilities, and develop strategies to transition from current to future state. Partnering with senior consultants, you will support assessments, remediation, and consolidation initiatives while managing complex enterprise projects. This is not a design role, but it requires deep knowledge of data center infrastructure to drive optimization, relocation, and consolidation strategies.
  • This is a full-time position offering full benefits, a base salary in the $90,000 to $100,0000 range (commensurate with experience), paid training and other compensation.

Responsibilities
  • Lead data center site evaluations and site selection engagements focused on facility analysis, capacity planning, and remediation strategy. Activities include walkthroughs, on-site assessments, technical workshops, facility-manager interviews, and engineering diagram reviews to gather the infrastructure, operational, and business requirements needed to evaluate current-state and future-state viability.
  • Gather documentation and develop delivery plans for all work streams.
  • Advise clients on the risks and trade-offs of proposed solutions as well as the risks of taking no action, enabling informed decision-making and effective expectation management.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers to build schedules, report on evaluation status, and support management of project teams across Align, clients, and vendors.
  • Work with team members to develop client deliverables including reports, presentations, and documentation supporting facility analysis and remediation recommendations.
  • Create Statements of Work and support the sales process.
  • Conduct business analysis to understand facility infrastructure dependencies and contribute to data center transformation strategies.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert, partnering with Senior Project Managers and Technology Transformation consultants to guide technology infrastructure evolution from current to future state, with a focus on data center transformation and cross-functional alignment.
  • Continually improve processes, frameworks, and assessment solutions.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering or a related field.
  • 5-7 years of experience with data center mechanical and electrical infrastructure or other critical facilities.
  • Comprehensive understanding of data center facility infrastructure, including electrical systems, mechanical systems, building management platforms, and physical security technologies.
  • Experience with critical mechanical and electrical infrastructure projects, including facility assessments, data center migrations, and consolidations.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and writing skills.
  • Strong proficiency with PowerPoint, Excel, MS Project, Visio, and other Office tools to manage plans, charts, reports, and documentation.
  • A basic understanding of data center functions and core technologies - including compute, storage, and network systems - and their operational interdependencies is preferred but not required.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Understand electrical and mechanical principles relating to data centers
  • Experience with Procore or similar project management software
  • Knowledge of the local subcontractor and union labor market (the quality of their work) and relationships with local low voltage, electrical and mechanical contractors is preferred
  • Experience directly related to the design or construction of data centers/critical infrastructure or large scale mechanical and electrical plants
  • Value engineering: proven ability to reduce costs through creative solutions with no impact on quality and reliability (new designs, technology, or construction methods).
  • Experience with power management and power monitoring systems.
  • Certifications such as Professional Engineer (PE), LEED, and/or Certified Construction Manager (CCM)

In summary, we are seeking a smart, energetic professional who is strategically minded and motivated to grow our capabilities in the data center assessment and modernization space.

To support a fair, consistent, and high-quality hiring experience, some interviews may be recorded. These recordings help our team focus fully on the conversation at hand, rather than note-taking, and allow us to better evaluate and improve our recruitment process. Recordings are used solely for internal purposes such as training, quality assurance, and process improvement. Candidates will be informed in advance and asked to provide consent before any recording takes place.
