Full Job Description
What You Will Be Doing:

As a Data Center Commissioning Supervisor, you are responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing commissioning activities for mission-critical data center facilities. This includes overseeing the productivity of field service technicians and ensuring the satisfaction of service customers. You will create and promote a safe working environment for technicians, making safety the first priority at all times. The majority of your time will be spent supporting, developing, and holding technicians accountable to deliver high-quality results.

You are expected to own financial performance for your area of responsibility and follow established standards to create an efficient and quality service offering. Additionally, you must address employee and customer concerns quickly to resolve issues, analyze metrics daily to ensure work is flowing productively, and objectives are being met. Lastly, you are expected to maintain current product knowledge and policy procedures to ensure systems are supported as intended by manufacturer warranty guidelines.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Participate in required safety programs and ensure that all employees complete safety training and work in a safe manner.
  • Lead development and execution of Commissioning Plans (Cx Plans), including pre-functional checks, functional performance testing, and Integrated Systems Testing (IST) across electrical, mechanical, and controls systems.
  • Own day-to-day commissioning operations: schedule control, staffing, vendor coordination, equipment availability, documentation quality, and adherence to safety requirements.
  • Establish and enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Methods of Procedure (MOP), and Emergency Operating Procedures (EOP) for testing and turnover; ensure company policies and procedures are followed.
  • Develop, evaluate, and motivate staff; conduct formal annual performance evaluations and create developmental/learning plans for each employee; administer disciplinary actions in compliance with company policy.
  • Plan and establish systems to control expenses and drive efficiency while maintaining quality and safety standards.
  • Serve as primary point of contact for clients during commissioning; assist in resolving issues and complaints related to testing, documentation, and schedule.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulations and standards (e.g., OSHA, EPA, local AHJ) and alignment with owner requirements and industry best practices.
  • Set job standards, arrange work assignments to cover vacancies and absences, and maintain accurate attendance and training records.
  • Perform routine quality control inspections and test witnessing to ensure maximum customer satisfaction and defect-free handover.
  • Supervise daily workflow (workload, resources, equipment, and documentation processes) and remove blockers to keep work flowing.
  • Assist with developing long-term schedules and sequencing to maximize technician and vendor efficiency; manage look-ahead plans and constraint logs.
  • Oversee and assist in collection and reconciliation of project-related accounts receivable; support change management and cost control.
  • Accountable for monthly reports, including safety metrics, schedule status, issue/punch list closure, financials, and staffing updates; file all injury/incident reports per policy.
  • Conduct monthly meetings (safety, schedule/financials, quality, and company updates) and lead daily/weekly stand-ups with commissioning teams.
  • Maintain current product and system knowledge (UPS, generators, switchgear, PDUs, BMS/EPMS/DCIM, chillers, CRAH/CRAC, cooling towers, controls) and policy/procedures to ensure systems meet manufacturer requirements and warranty guidelines.
  • Manage issue tracking, RFI responses, redlines, and as-built handover; ensure test scripts and results are complete, traceable, and archived.
  • Additional duties as assigned by manager.
