Responsibilities

Peraton is looking to hire a Data Architect in the Washington DC Metro area.  This role will be a remote position.   At times, the role will also require travel to the Quantico client site when necessary.

 

What you'll do:

  • Position requires an active/current DoD Secret clearance; Reston or Annapolis Junction is preferred.
  • Provides architectural leadership and advisory support for mission applications planning, strategy, capability maturity, and target-state definition across the program.
  • Helps define prioritization and sequencing for application development and integration by proposing strategic roadmaps that align customer needs with best-in-class technology.
  • Experience designing and building Data Lakes, Data Warehouses, and scalable data platforms in the cloud
  • The successful candidate should have of experience in data engineering, including building data pipelines and warehouses
  • Use APIs to push and pull data from various data systems and platforms
  • Supports and oversees technical activities across the contract, mentors technical staff, and drives continuous improvement and innovation into program operations.
  • Advises on technology alternatives related to processing, data storage, data access, application development, and enterprise architecture decisions.
  • Requires strong enterprise architecture experience, AWS solutions architecture knowledge, and security-by-design awareness in the application development lifecycle.
  • Desired capabilities include federal privacy, risk management, compliance experience, strong communication skills, and familiarity with DCSA mission and domain context.
  • Proficiency with AI assisted software development, AWS Step functions to Orchestrate complex workflows
  • Familiarity with tools like Informatica and AWS services is essential for success
  • Experience with Java, SQL, Scala, Python, schema definition, and software engineering best practices including secure, testable, and maintainable code and databases (eg SQL, NoSQL, Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, Kinesis)
  • Familiarity with Package, curate, and version datasets for LM fine-tuning and model training jobs on Bedrock and Sagemaker.
  • Enforce CUI handling requirements, automate PII detection and maintain Audit trails, e.g. Amazon Macie.

  • Leads enterprise data architecture strategy, target-state definition, and roadmap planning across complex mission programs.
  • Experience designing and building Data Lakes, Data Warehouses, and scalable data platforms in the cloud
  • Advises senior leaders on data storage, access, security, and technology selection decisions supporting architecture and modernization objectives.
  • Mentors staff and drives innovation, risk-informed decision making, and continuous improvement across architecture and delivery teams.
  • Demonstrates strong expertise in AWS architecture, security in the SDLC, and communication of technical risk and architecture decisions to executive audiences.
  • Good Understanding of distributed systems, data integration techniques (ETL vs. federation), database optimization (partitioning, indexing), and relational database performance tuning.
  • Excellent listening, interpersonal, communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in teams, in both a lead and support role.
  • Local to the Washington DC Metro Area (highly preferred)
Target Salary Range$112,000 - $179,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
