Job Title
Data Architecture - Advisor II

About your role:

As a Data Architecture Advisor II, you will define and advance enterprise data architecture that enables robust data governance, scalable data design, and consistent standards across cloud and on-premises environments. You will work with business partners, engineers, developers, business intelligence teams, and system-of-record subject matter experts to design trusted, high-performance data assets that improve data quality, reuse, and decision-making across the enterprise.

What you'll do:
  • Design enterprise data architecture for operational data stores, near real-time data warehouses, and analytical platforms across cloud and on-premises environments.
  • Create conceptual, logical, physical, and entity relationship data models that support performance, scalability, governance, and long-term maintainability.
  • Lead data modeling and data design sessions with business, IT, Business Intelligence, and system-of-record stakeholders to translate requirements into prototypes, standards, and implementation-ready models.
  • Establish and promote reusable data assets, common data models, and architecture standards to support a single version of truth across the data landscape.
  • Develop source-to-target mappings, process mappings, lineage artifacts, and reverse and forward engineering analyses for complex data flows and integrations.
  • Build and optimize data solutions using Snowflake, Structured Query Language (SQL), Python, and related data technologies to support ingestion, automation, monitoring, performance tuning, and governed data sharing.
  • Mentor junior team members through data architecture guidance, modeling reviews, and knowledge sharing on standards, tools, and best practices.
  • Responsibilities listed are not intended to be all-inclusive and may be modified as necessary.

Experience you'll need to have:
  • 10+ years of experience in enterprise data architecture, data modeling, and data warehousing for large-scale environments, including operational data stores and near real-time data warehouses.
  • 15+ years of experience creating conceptual, logical, physical, and entity relationship data models using erwin Data Modeler or an equivalent data modeling tool.
  • 10+ years of experience in financial services data domains, including account, card, payment, or digital processing data.
  • 8+ years of experience writing and optimizing SQL for complex data analysis, physical data model design, and performance tuning across platforms such as Snowflake, Oracle Exadata, Hadoop, Spark, or MongoDB.
  • 6+ years of experience using Python or a similar scripting language to automate monitoring, alerts, ingestion workflows, interfaces, and data governance processes.
  • Experience facilitating cross-functional design sessions and communicating complex technical concepts to business partners, engineers, developers, and Business Intelligence teams.
  • Bachelor's Degree in computer science, information systems, data management, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education, related experience and/or military experience.
  • 1+ years of Fiserv systems experience.

Experience that would be great to have:
  • Experience with event streaming and event-based data warehousing methodologies.
  • Experience with domain-driven design, microservices-based architecture, bounded contexts, or data mesh principles.
  • Experience building or maintaining enterprise data catalogs, metadata repositories, and end-to-end lineage using Alation, Collibra, or similar platforms.
  • Experience with BIAN, IBM Banking and Financial Markets Model, ISO 20022, Matillion, SnapLogic, dbt, Power BI, Splunk, or advanced Excel automation.

How you'll work:
  • This role is on-site Monday through Friday. Fiserv considers in-person collaboration to be an essential part of this role as in-person office experiences help you with your overall onboarding experience and leads to stronger productivity.
