Position SummaryWe're looking for a Data Architect to support the design, review, optimization, and evolution of an enterprise data environment for a federal government client - including data standards and models, Lakehouse architecture, pipeline design reviews, and metadata/lineage integration. Job location is the Washington, DC Metro Area. Hybrid or Remote options can be considered.
Position is contingent upon contract award.Key Responsibilities- Define data standards and models across the enterprise data environment
- Advise on and evolve a Medallion (Bronze-Silver-Gold) Lakehouse architecture
- Review pipeline designs for architectural consistency and scalability
- Oversee metadata and lineage integration across the data platform
- Support modernization efforts, including metadata catalog integration, managed database evaluation, and observability frameworks
- Maintain updated data architecture diagrams and documentation, and produce transition plans for architecture changes
- Ensure architecture recommendations reflect best practices for AWS-based Medallion/Lakehouse designs, interoperability, and applicable security, privacy, and auditability requirements
Required Qualifications- Extensive experience designing enterprise data architectures on AWS, including Medallion/Lakehouse patterns
- Experience with data modeling (relational and dimensional), metadata frameworks, and lineage/observability tooling
- Experience evaluating and recommending data platform modernization approaches (e.g., catalog tools, managed database services)
- Experience producing architecture diagrams, transition plans, and documentation for government or regulated environments
- Strong understanding of security, privacy, and auditability requirements as they apply to data architecture
Preferred Certifications- AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional
- DAMA CDMP - Practitioner
Additional RequirementsMust be able to pass a federal background investigation prior to starting work and maintain eligibility throughout the engagement.
Salary range for this position is $150,000.00 - $160,000.00
