POSITION OVERVIEW
Tommy John is seeking a curious, proactive, and highly organized Data Analyst to join our Strategy & Analytics team. This role will support customer, marketing, merchandising, eCommerce, site, retail, and channel analytics by turning complex data into clear, reliable reporting and actionable business insights.

The ideal candidate combines strong analytical fundamentals with business curiosity and clear communication. This person will independently execute well-defined analyses, build and maintain dashboards, investigate performance trends, and collaborate with the team on more complex or ambiguous business questions.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Partner with cross-functional leaders to frame business questions, define success metrics, and translate business needs into clear analytical approaches.
  • Build, maintain, and improve dashboards and recurring reporting across sales, customer, marketing, merchandising, site, retail, and channel performance.
  • Analyze business performance to identify key drivers, emerging risks, and growth opportunities, and translate findings into practical recommendations.
  • Support the development and maintenance of reliable datasets and data models using SQL, dbt, and a cloud data warehouse.
  • Perform data validation and quality checks, reconcile results across sources, and help resolve reporting discrepancies.
  • Maintain clear documentation for key metrics, business logic, dashboards, and recurring analytical processes.
  • Analyze customer behavior, including acquisition, retention, repeat purchase, cohorts, lifetime value, category penetration, and cross-shopping patterns.
  • Support the design, measurement, and interpretation of tests, campaigns, launches, and other business initiatives.
  • Support eCommerce and Marketing analyses across traffic acquisition, onsite behavior, conversion funnels, eCommerce events, and digital experience performance, including work in Google Analytics 4 (GA4) and related tools.
  • Develop concise presentations and written summaries that communicate findings clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Manage recurring deliverables and high-priority ad hoc requests while maintaining strong accuracy, organization, and follow-through.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, & EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's Degree in a quantitative, technical, or business-related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience in data analytics, business intelligence, or a related analytical role.
  • Strong SQL skills, including experience joining and analyzing large datasets using common table expressions and window functions.
  • Experience building and maintaining dashboards in a business intelligence platform such as Looker, Tableau, Power BI, or Metabase.
  • Experience working with data in a cloud data warehouse such as Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift.
  • Strong analytical reasoning and the ability to translate data into clear business insights and recommendations.
  • High attention to detail and a strong commitment to data accuracy, consistency, and documentation.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver reliable work in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
  • Must ensure that recurring reporting is accurate, timely, and trusted by business partners.
  • Must be able to demonstrate from analyses not only what happened, but also the key drivers, implications, and recommended next steps.
  • Proficient with dashboards, metric definitions, and analytical processes, ensuring they are well-documented, consistently maintained, and easy to use.
  • Ability to partner cross-functionally to allow teams to make faster and better-informed decisions.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
  • Experience with Google Analytics 4 (GA4) is a significant advantage, particularly experience with eCommerce event tracking, funnel or path analysis, channel reporting, and data validation.
  • Experience with dbt or another data transformation framework.
  • Experience using Python or R for analysis, automation, or statistical modeling.
  • Experience supporting eCommerce, retail, apparel, consumer, customer, marketing, or merchandising analytics.
  • Familiarity with A/B testing, campaign measurement, attribution, forecasting, or incrementality approaches.
  • Familiarity with Git or other version-control practices.
