Full Job Description
Data Analysts are responsible for importing, transforming, and validating (or querying) data with the purpose of understanding or drawing conclusions from the data to drive decision-making. They may use modeling techniques to form data in ways that can be analyzed and/or queried to identify data quality issues, anomalies, or deviations. They generate ad hoc reports and regular datasets or report information for end-users using system tools, database or data warehouse queries, and scripts. They also integrate data from multiple sources to produce requested or required data elements. They work closely with business groups, IT verticals, and governance teams to provide information to drive data quality and usage decisions.

The Asset Reporting Analyst manages the development, accuracy, and integrity of KPIs for IT hardware and software assets across all corporate and warehouse locations. Supporting IT Asset Management (ITAM) and related functions, this role transforms raw data from disparate sources into actionable business intelligence for both operational and executive leadership.

The analyst is responsible for the end-to-end reporting lifecycle, including gathering stakeholder requirements, identifying reporting gaps, and building new dashboards from scratch while maintaining and optimizing legacy reporting. This position requires a highly inquisitive, self-motivated professional capable of executing a rapid ramp-up through independent data discovery and the critical analysis of legacy documentation. Beyond ensuring data accuracy, the analyst provides the proactive insights necessary to drive asset lifecycle management, fulfillment efficiency, and organizational compliance.

ROLE
  • Gathers and documents complex business requirements from stakeholders to architect, build, and deploy new reporting solutions and dashboards from the ground up.
  • Maintains, audits, and optimizes legacy reporting tools to ensure continued accuracy, performance, and operational relevance.
  • Proactively identifies reporting gaps and unmet business needs, proposing and implementing data-driven solutions to improve organizational visibility.
  • Identifies and interprets trends, patterns, and correlations among various data points to provide actionable insights to business owners.
  • Analyzes data for quality and completeness in strict accordance with established data governance policies, standards, and best practices.
  • Develops advanced scripts and queries to extract, transform, and normalize data from disparate sources for deep-dive analysis.
  • Designs and manages the data reporting environment, including the oversight of data sources, security protocols, and metadata management.
  • Creates and executes data quality control processes and audits to ensure integrity is maintained across all extraction and reporting workflows.
  • Performs data profiling and logical modeling to determine the most effective ways to measure, visualize, and provide data to the business.
  • Applies statistical methods and visualization techniques to translate raw, complex datasets into meaningful business narratives.
  • Integrates multiple disparate data sources to form accurate, comprehensive, and high-fidelity datasets for cross-functional use.
  • Defines and ensures adherence to process improvement opportunities to streamline data collection, normalization, and analysis.
  • Performs rigorous testing and validation of data and data sources to ensure the highest level of accuracy for executive-level reporting.
  • Executes data mapping and tracing from system to system to resolve complex business problems or identify technical system gaps.
  • Provides technical expertise on data migration, mining, and cleansing to support large-scale asset management initiatives.
  • Collaborates with and informs data stewards and custodians to ensure the quality and consistency of master data changes and additions.
  • Prepares comprehensive documentation regarding data relationships, integration flows, and reporting logic to ensure long-term sustainability and knowledge transfer.
  • Develops a deep working knowledge of business processes to ensure all reporting is contextually relevant and directly supports operational decision-making.
  • Identifies and resolves complex problems, often anticipating technical or data-related issues before they impact stakeholders or business operations.
  • Leads the development and continuous improvement of KPIs to measure and drive the effectiveness of asset management, fulfillment, and purchasing functions.

REQUIRED
  • 1-3 years' writing queries, report writing, and presenting findings.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Detail oriented and possess strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze a situation for potential future problems.
  • Proven ability to gather and document complex or unclear stakeholder requirements and translate them into technical reporting specifications and new builds, iteratively working with stakeholders to ensure delivery meets requirements
  • Strong technical and end user documentation and writing skills.

About Costco

Costco is a membership warehouse club, dedicated to bringing their members the best possible prices on quality brand-name merchandise. With hundreds of locations worldwide, Costco provides a wide selection of merchandise, plus the convenience of specialty departments and exclusive member services, all designed to make your shopping experience a pleasurable one. The company's first location, opened in 1976 under the Price Club name, was in a converted airplane hangar on Morena Boulevard in San Diego. Originally serving only small businesses, the company found it could achieve far greater buying clout by also serving a selected audience of non-business members. With that change, the growth of the warehouse club industry was off and running. In 1983, the first Costco warehouse location was opened in Seattle. Costco became the first company ever to grow from zero to $3 billion in sales in less than six years. When Costco and Price Club merged in 1993, the combined company, operating under the name PriceCostco, had 206 locations generating $16 billion in annual sales.
