CytotechnologistFull-time / 40 hours per week / 1st shiftBarberton campusSummary of Position:Screens slides for detection and diagnosis of disease by examination of cellular specimens obtained from a variety of sites in the human body. Verifies correctness of examination findings following established quality control and quality assurance procedures and practices. Refers all positive, abnormal, and suggestive cases to a pathologist for final diagnosis.
Minimum Qualifications: 1.Formal Education Required:
a. Baccalaureate degree (BA/BS) and graduation from CAAHEP accredited Cytotechnology program;
OR
Before September 1, 1992, have successfully completed two (2) years in an accredited institution (12 semester hours in science, 8 of which are in biology) and have graduated from an accredited school of cytotechnology.
b. Certified in cytotechnology by a certification agency approved by HHS (e.g. American Society of Clinical Pathology).
2.Other Skills, Competencies and Qualifications:
a. Ability to work where sustained concentration is required despite its often repetitive nature.
b. Manual dexterity sufficient to operate and troubleshoot laboratory equipment used in the preparation and examination of cytological specimens.
c. Ability to communicate in written and oral fashion and interact with pathologists and physician staff.
d. Ability to read, comprehend, and follow detailed laboratory protocols and instructions.
e. Skill in use of computers or ability to acquire such skills to operate application packages used by department.
f. Assumes accountability for demonstrating behaviors consistent with the customer service policy.
g. Ability to effectively interact with populations of patients/customers with an understanding of their needs for self-respect and dignity.
3.Level of Physical Demands:
a.Sedentary: Exerts up to ten pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently.
$36.83/hr - $44.20/hr
The salary range on this job posting/advertising is base salary exclusive of any bonuses or differentials. Many factors, such as years of relevant experience and geographical location are considered when determining the starting rate of pay.
