Full Job Description
Overview

We are seeking a full-time Cyber Security Engineer 1 at Garmin's U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area. In this role, you will be responsible for the support and operation of Garmin's cybersecurity services. This individual will have a background in information security practices and services and an understanding of the threats to enterprise environments. This role will evaluate the threat landscape, identify risks to the organization, and enhance Garmin's capabilities to protect, detect, respond, and recover from security incidents. This role will collaborate across cybersecurity teams and Garmin business segments to ensure services are secure. This individual will also engage in incident response and remediation, providing technical support during security incidents.

Essential Functions
  • Collaborate across a team of highly skilled security professionals, promoting knowledge transfer, skill development, and a culture of continuous learning and improvement
  • Participate in project and program planning and maintain accurate status of overall work progress
  • Contribute to the team roadmap and priorities
  • Participate in the evaluation and adoption of emerging security technologies to improve threat detection, prevention, and response
  • Participate in the implementation, support, and operation of key security tools including EDR platforms, email security suites, DNS security solutions, PAM tools, enterprise password management, forensic tools, and threat intelligence platforms
  • Assist in resolving basic security tool issues and collaborating with team members and partners to support overall security posture
  • Stay informed on advancements in security attacks and methods and effective measures to protect Garmin's environment

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Business or other relevant field OR an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
  • Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule) with the demonstrated ability to apply learned knowledge
  • Demonstrate clear verbal/written communication skills and work well with others in a team-oriented environment
  • Maintain a positive attitude and collaborate effectively with peers.
  • Manage time and follow-up responsibilities with guidance
  • Produce organized and accurate documentation while learning established standards
  • Understand core information technology services such as networking, storage, databases, and web-based services
  • Experience managing security tools such as EDR, email security suites, DNS security, PAM solutions, enterprise password management, forensic tools, and threat intelligence platforms
  • Experience working with Linux-based operating systems
  • Experience with Windows server and desktop environments
  • Experience with automation and scripting, using APIs to integrate and enhance security tools

Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with Azure or AWS public cloud services
