The expected hiring range for this position is:
$88,800.00-$116,900.00.

This position is not eligible for relocation assistance, sponsorship assistance or referral bonus program.About the Role:Functional Lead Responsibilities This position serves as the functional lead for assigned cyber security projects, initiatives, or program components. In this capacity, the role provides technical direction, coordination, and expert contribution without direct supervisory responsibilities. Responsibilities include:
- Provides technical and functional leadership for cyber security projects, initiatives, and program activities.
- Translates program and security objectives into technical requirements, methodologies, timelines, and deliverables.
- Coordinates cross-functional activities with analysts, engineers, stakeholders, and external partners.
- Identifies, analyzes, and resolves complex issues affecting project success, security posture, or timelines.
- Monitors trends in cyber security, tools, platforms, and methodologies and evaluates applicability to the program.
- Develops and contributes to technical documentation, reports, and presentations.
- Ensures work complies with organizational policies, regulatory requirements, safety practices, and quality standards.
- Provides input to leadership regarding risks, opportunities, and future cyber security capabilities.
In addition to the functional lead responsibilities, the individual duties are listed below. These reflect the Analyst II level. Responsibilities will expand in scope and complexity if the position is filled at an Architect level.Cyber Security Analyst II ResponsibilitiesUnder general supervision, performs all procedures to ensure the safety of information systems data/assets and to protect systems from intentional or inadvertent access or destruction. Interfaces with user community and management to understand cyber security needs and develops and implements procedures to accommodate them. Ensures that user community understands and adheres to procedures to maintain cyber security. Develops and administers computer security standards, policies, and procedures. Responsibilities include:
- Configures, implements, integrates, maintains, and/or administers security systems.
- Plans, analyzes, designs, develops, tests, and ensures quality assurance, applying in-depth understanding of interactions between various technologies.
- Develops and administers computer security standards, policies, and procedures.
- Installs, tests, maintains, and upgrades security systems hardware and software.
- Troubleshoots problems and recommends actions, applying creativity and taking the initiative in problem solving.
- Determines methods and procedures on new assignments and provides guidance to other personnel, facilitating the transfer of knowledge of technologies.
- Participates in design discussions and author design notes.
- Contributes to and leads design efforts, regularly gathers requirements and information from users for specific projects and obtains feedback.
- Defines and maintains security architecture and infrastructure.
- Analyzes security logs and monitors security performance and compliance.
- Analyzes and plans for anticipated changes in security requirements.
- Localizes causes and identifies and resolves moderately complex problems.
- Provides consultation to users in the area of computer security.
- Authors progress reports and technical proposals.
- Contributes to and leads projects of moderate scope or phases of larger projects and interacts with other project layers, as assigned.
- Performs technical negotiations with vendors and oversees major purchases.
- Instructs, directs, and checks the work of other security analysts as assigned.
- Responsible for operational and/or maintenance activities for one or more specific projects as assigned.
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Abides by and is responsible for performing all duties in accordance with all environmental, health and safety regulations and practices pertinent to this position.
Essential Competencies and Attributes for Success:- High school diploma with 5+ years of cyber security experience.
- Preferred: Bachelor of Computer Science or a related field with 3+ years of cyber security experience.
Applicable Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:- Detailed knowledge of software development practices using a modern high-level language.
- Strong understanding of cyber security concepts.
- Excellent communication skills.
Applicable Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:- Must be a U.S. Citizen and have an active TS or DOE Clearance, or ability to obtain it.
