Customer Solutions Agronomist

This opportunity strives to deliver the following outcomes:

This is a full time, 10-month, home-based position within the Peace Region of Alberta - ideal locations are Fairview, Grande Prairie or Peace River. Local travel within the Peace Region would be required.

What you will do:
  • Jointly own and achieve squad P&L targets, in collaboration with all squad members
  • Plan, prioritize and execute in short-term (90-day cycles), mid-term and long-term cycles
  • Adapt, iterate, regularly reassess, and prioritize tasks to ensure continued progress towards squad outcomes
  • Collaborate and co-create within squad to ensure clarity of accountabilities to maximize customer focus
  • Leveraging digital tools and agronomic expertise position, support, and service the full Bayer portfolio of seed, crop protection and new business models, while also leveraging market intel and data insights to assess and prioritize opportunities
  • Contributing to effective team dynamics as a self-managing squad, via activities such as peer recruitment, selection, and performance feedback
  • Foster an inclusive environment of professionalism and safe working practices ensuring Safety and Compliance requirements are met or exceeded within squad
  • Define technical strategy to meet squad data and demand generation outcomes
  • Collaborate with the Market Development community to develop and execute field testing protocols to create broad based agronomic solutions and launch new products and solutions with the use of digital solutions
  • As local technical expert, understand and communicate the agronomic position of Bayer products and solutions among the squad, customers, retails, academics and independent agronomists, ensuring new technologies have proper profile with key influencers and customers
  • Provide technical support within squad on difficult product performance inquiries requiring additional technical analysis
  • Support weed and crop protection management strategies and other stewardship initiatives for the Bayer product portfolio, including technical support and training
  • Collect and enter trial data into Bayer enterprise data management systems (Velocity, Commercial Trialing workflow, Scout) meeting highest data quality standards and collaborate with Data Scientists to explore and apply advanced statistical techniques to analyze this data
  • Foster an inclusive environment of professionalism and safe working practices ensuring Safety and Compliance requirements are met or exceeded within Squad.


Who you are:
  • B.Sc./Diploma with a minimum of 2 years agronomy or agriculture research experience
  • Currently hold/eligible/ in process of completion of either a CCA, CCSC, PAg, RT Ag or Order of Agronomist (QC) designation
  • Strong understanding of crop production and agronomy (ideal to also understand Bayer's product portfolio for seed, crop protection and digital solutions)
  • Strong communicator and demonstrated experience in communicating technical material to non-technical audiences
  • Ability to organize and execute a high-quality field research trial program
  • Understands how to develop agronomic protocols that address customer needs
  • Experienced supporting sales' activities
  • Valid driver's license and ability to operate motor vehicles safely
  • Ability to effectively supervise and coach summer students

Additional Skills/Experience Preferred:
  • Advanced computer and database skills with ability to use MS Office Suite as well as other software like CRM or Tableau

The base salary range for this role is between $63,840 and $109,200. Additional compensation may include a bonus or incentive compensation. Additional benefits may include insured benefits such as health care, vision, dental, disability, and contributory retirement savings plans, etc. This salary range is an estimate and may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, market data and the applicant's skills, prior relevant experience, job-related knowledge, specific degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
