CUSTOMER INTEGRITY & THREAT DETECTION MANAGER (STARLINK)

At SpaceX, we are committed to ensuring the service remains a force for good and sustains trust worldwide: both connecting the unconnected and executing thorough processes to detect and prevent misuse by illicit operators. We are looking for an experienced professional to detect, disrupt, and investigate potential misuse of the service-including proactively combating and deterring illicit operators. This person must strike the careful balance of safeguarding customer information and privacy while applying enforcement measures and executing with an even-handed approach, avoiding overreach and disproportionate collateral impacts.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Proactively identify and assess platform integrity and abuse risks
  • Design and develop solutions to priority risks. Own their deployment and effectiveness in concert with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Represent the team in cross-functional groups and in appropriate areas of expertise
  • Establish yourself as an expert in 2+ relevant investigative techniques, technologies or abuse prevention strategies
  • Reactively investigate potential issues such as scams, fraud, and illicit goods and activities
  • Conduct periodic reviews to support legal and compliance obligations
  • Execute with consideration for customer privacy, targeting activities of indisputable harm and avoiding overreach

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree and 6+ years of professional experience in global affairs, intelligence, or investigations; OR 12+ years of professional experience in global affairs, intelligence, or investigations in lieu of a degree
  • 6+ years of experience with data querying languages (e.g., SQL), scripting languages (e.g., Python), geospatial tools (e.g., ArcGIS), and/or statistical software (e.g., R)
  • 6+ years of experience investigating, mitigating, or dealing with illicit operators (e.g., fraud, abuse, cybersecurity, or other illicit activities)
  • 3+ years owning and driving improvements in processes, technology, or other business areas to improve customer integrity or related capabilities

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Experience enabling others, influencing organizational decisions, and building consensus around solutions to challenging problems
  • Strong analytical research and communication skills, including excellent written and oral communication skills
  • International professional exposure (e.g., working abroad or on global initiatives/businesses)
  • Experience in cybersecurity operations, threat detection, or vulnerability assessment in high-stakes environments
  • Experience with research and intelligence analytic techniques, including open-source intelligence (OSINT) data techniques
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment in a fast-paced, high-tech environment
  • Highly organized with a strong attention to detail
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines
  • Familiarity with U.S. and international economic sanctions and export control laws and regulations

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to travel as needed for business (15%)
  • This position is based in Bastrop, TX and requires being onsite-remote work not considered
  • Must be able to work extended hours and weekends as needed
