Position:Curriculum Supervisor of Literacy Location:District Wide Schedule:[redacted] School Year (210 day administrative position) Salary:$110,000 - $130,000 To Start:August 2026 Position Overview: In this district-wide leadership role, the Curriculum Supervisor of Literacy drives the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of a high-quality, coherent, and equitable literacy program aligned with the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks and grounded in the Science of Reading. The Supervisor leads curriculum review and revision to ensure vertical and horizontal alignment across all grade levels PK-12, and ensures that curriculum, instruction, and assessment practices are culturally responsive, inclusive, and accessible to all learners, including English Learners and students with disabilities. The Supervisor analyzes district, school, and classroom-level data to identify trends, monitor literacy outcomes, and guide instructional decision-making, and collaborates closely with district and school administrators, curriculum leaders, and teachers to strengthen literacy teaching and learning at every level. This position carries direct supervisory responsibility for literacy educators, including observation, coaching, and evaluation in accordance with Massachusetts Educator Evaluation regulations. The Supervisor also plays a central role in building professional capacity across the district by designing and facilitating ongoing, job-embedded professional learning rooted in Structured Literacy practices, with a strong emphasis on early literacy foundational skills, and supporting the recruitment and onboarding of literacy educators. Qualifications: • Massachusetts Teaching Certification as Reading Specialist or ELA, required • Massachusetts licensure as a Supervisor/Director, Principal/Assistant Principal, or equivalent, required • Sheltered English Immersion (SEI) Administrator Endorsement, required • Master's Degree or higher in Reading, Curriculum Leadership, Educational Leadership, or a related field • Minimum of five (5) years of successful Reading or English Language Arts teaching experience • Demonstrated experience as an instructional coach, curriculum leader, or literacy specialist Duties and Responsibilities: • Lead the implementation of High-Quality Instructional Materials (HQIM) aligned to the Science of Reading across PK-12 • Champion early literacy foundational skills instruction - phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, and vocabulary - as the cornerstone of the PK-3 literacy program • Drive the district's shift toward Structured Literacy practices with vertical and horizontal alignment across all grade levels • Ensure elementary literacy instruction maintains a balanced focus on both knowledge-building content and foundational skills development • Ensure Tier 1 core instruction and Tier 2/3 interventions are evidence-based and culturally sustaining • Ensure the literacy curriculum is standards-aligned, culturally responsive, inclusive, and accessible to all learners, including English Learners and students with disabilities • Serve as the district's primary instructional expert for literacy, providing ongoing, content-specific feedback at all levels • Conduct classroom observations focused on instructional practice and deliver constructive, growth-oriented feedback to teachers • Support building principals in the supervision and evaluation of literacy educators, serving as a content expert and resource • Partner with principals and instructional leaders to identify strengths and areas for growth within the literacy programs • Model effective literacy instructional strategies and co-teach or demonstrate lessons as needed to support teacher development • Lead district-wide Literacy Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) and curriculum committees focused on continuous improvement • Design and facilitate a PK-12 Professional Development Plan focused on structured literacy, writing instruction, and disciplinary literacy at the secondary level • Oversee sthe district's universal screening process and data-cycle meetings to identify students at risk for reading difficulties, including dyslexia • Analyze district-wide literacy data, including MCAS and benchmark assessments such as mCLASS, i-Ready, and DIBELS 8th Edition • Identify achievement gaps and guide instructional decision-making in collaboration with school and district administrators • Serve as a member of the district leadership team, contributing to district-wide instructional initiatives and strategic planning • Collaborate with other curriculum supervisors and district leaders to ensure interdisciplinary alignment and coherence • Cultivate family-school partnerships by providing resources and workshops that empower caregivers to support literacy development at home • Communicate literacy program goals and progress to families, staff, and community stakeholders • Stay current with research, best practices, and emerging trends in literacy education, instructional technology, and assessment • Perform any additional tasks as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools
