Job Title: Computed Tomography Technologist
Profession: Tech

License: Current state licensure required (for positions as per state regulations)
Certifications: ARRT registered technologist, Basic life support (BLS) certified for healthcare providers
Must-Have:
- Meets departmental IV certification competency within three months of hire
- Completes any required controlled substance module within six months of hire
- Completes any required initial moderate sedation module within six months of hire
Description:
This position is responsible for performing high-quality CT procedures.
The incumbent will perform a variety of CT procedures employing ingenuity, initiative, and independent judgment.
The incumbent will use ionizing radiation for diagnostic purposes.
Ensures proper patient identification and order verification and prepares the patient for the exam.
Performs exams per departmental protocol.
Understands cross-sectional anatomy and demonstrates anatomical positioning competency.
Familiar with radiation safety protocols and follows guidelines.
Demonstrates ability to critique own imaging results.
Completes studies within acceptable time limitations without compromising patient care or image quality.
Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of protocols relating to contrast administration.
As ordered, administers oral barium products or intravenous contrast material to patients under supervision.
Practices appropriate infection control and sterile techniques.
Provides patient education as needed and assures patient comfort.
Understands and operates all CT equipment and related information systems to ensure quality images are produced.
Exhibits working knowledge of contrast injectors and imaging systems.
Demonstrates proficiency with electronic imaging and can view, transfer, and manipulate images.
Thoroughly and accurately completes all required documentation, including time stamps and image storage.
Follows appropriate protocol for medical necessity, coding, and obtaining consents if necessary.
Documents any events that may occur for quality assurance and maintains a current quality control program, reporting any equipment failures or problems.
Physical requirements include hearing/listening, lifting, manual dexterity, seeing, and standing.
