If so, please consider joining the Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Program with the Division of Statewide Services in the Department of Public Safety! We are seeking a dedicated and dynamic individual to lead this program in the CJIS Administrator-2 role where you will play a crucial role in overseeing and enhancing critical support services that impact statewide public safety.
The CJIS Administrator-2 provides statewide leadership, vision, and strategic direction for the Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Program within the Division of Statewide Services. This role is critical to maintaining the integrity, security, and efficiency of Alaska's criminal history record, fingerprint identification, and justice information systems-directly supporting law enforcement and other criminal justice agencies statewide.
By overseeing these essential systems, the CJIS Administrator-2 advances public safety, ensures compliance with state and federal laws, and enables effective data sharing, policy development, and operational excellence in alignment with the department's mission
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:- Personnel Development: Knowledge of human resource concepts, principles, and practices related to determining workload projections and current and future competency gaps to align staffing with organizational goals.
- Strategic Planning: Develop short- or long-term goals and the strategies to achieve them; coordinate with other organizations to accomplish goals; monitor progress and evaluate outcomes using metrics, data analysis, goal setting, and performance review to ensure compliance with functional and legal requirements.
- Project Management: Knowledge of the principles, methods, and tools for developing, scheduling, coordinating, and managing projects and resources, including monitoring and approving costs, milestones, and performance.
- Financial Administration: Develop and administer large operational budgets with multiple funding sources, allocate resources strategically, and ensure fiscal stewardship aligned with performance objectives and public accountability expectations.
- Change Management: Lead organizational and operational transformation initiatives; modernize policies, processes, and systems while maintaining operational continuity; utilize management principles, strategies, and techniques required for effectively planning, implementing, and evaluating change in the organization.

Any combination of training and/or education in criminal justice, justice programs, political science, planning, business or public administration, business management, computer science, or a closely related field; and/or progressively responsible professional experience, which includes lead and/or supervisory experience in law, law enforcement or adjudication, corrections, criminal justice planning, adult or juvenile justice, and/or crime prevention.
Special Note:As part of the examination process, an extensive background investigation, including a criminal record check and fingerprinting for conviction of felony crimes or serious misdemeanors will be performed.
