Full Job Description
This role is located in New York City and will require a hybrid work schedule of at least 2 days in office per week.

This role is for Officer level candidates.

Department Overview:

The Americas Division ("AD") was established in the Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank, Limited, New York Branch) ("SMTBNY") to perform corporate functions and supervise U.S. entities. Established under the AD are the "Global Banking Unit ("GBU"), Americas Division" and "Global Market Unit ("GMU"), Americas Division" which performs business functions.

Fund Finance Department ("FFD)

The Fund Finance Department ("FFD") is responsible for providing financing and other service-based solutions to customers that primarily consist of alternative investment funds, fund managers and/or corporate clients. These solutions include, but are not limited to, subscription finance, liquidity facilities, and FX solutions, collectively "Fund Finance", in addition to Asset Backed Commercial Paper (ABCP) solutions.

Investor Services and Business Solution Department ("ISB")

The Investor Services and Business Solution Department ("ISB") is responsible for (i) distribution, agency services, and developing new business opportunities for syndicated loan transactions and (ii) developing and executing business and operation plans and managing day-to-day operations and administrative matters in GBU.

Your Role Overview:

Credit Analyst (FFD)

Responsible for credit evaluation and deal maintenance.

Relationship Manager (ISB)

Responsible for business relationships and portfolio growth.

Your Duties and Responsibilities:

Credit Analyst ("FFD")

  1. Reviews potential assets related to ABCP program or other assigned products/industries and prepares credit applications and makes investment recommendations.
  2. Manages/operates ABCP Program
  3. Ensures compliance with applicable investment guidelines and directives from Head Office and Branch Management.
  4. Monitors assigned assets/products/industries to maintain credit quality through asset/product/industry appropriate measures, i.e., financial analysis and trends, cross-sectional analysis, cashflow analysis and market value/liquidity.
  5. Prepares all applications and reports and makes recommendations on all amendments, refinancings and other ongoing activities.
  6. Responsible for all Head Office and Branch monitoring and reporting requirements, including rating review, business review of documentation, regulatory review, booking and financial and portfolio review requirements, with support from Operations Analyst as designated.
  7. May conduct business development activities.
  8. May conduct or support deal structuring activities.


8. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.

Relationship Manager ("ISB")

  1. Develops and maintains business relationships with customers and identify business opportunities. Pursues and generates new customers and new transactions from current customers.
  2. Reviews potential assets in assigned industries and prepares credit applications and makes investment recommendations. Prepares all applications and reports and makes recommendations on all amendments, refinancings and other ongoing activities.
  3. Monitors assigned assets and industries to maintain credit quality through asset/industry appropriate measures, i.e., financial analysis and trends, cross-sectional analysis and market value/liquidity.
  4. Ensures compliance with applicable investment guidelines and directives from Head Office and Branch Management.
  5. Contacts and negotiates with agent banks, holders and brokers to source potential new assets or dispose the existing assets in the portfolio and promote business relationships to enhance sourcing opportunities. Arranges agent deals, including structuring with customer and other lenders, if applicable.
  6. Maintain current contact with and intelligence on financial markets.
  7. Responsible for all Head Office and Branch monitoring and reporting requirements, including rating review, business review of documentation, regulatory review, booking and financial and portfolio review requirements.
  8. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.


Your Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Finance or Economics or equivalent with 3+ years related experience.
  2. Bilingual oral and written skills on a business level in both English and Japanese.
  3. Good knowledge of finance and basic accounting.
  4. Good knowledge of commonly used research resources, including Bloomberg, EDGAR, and rating agencies.
  5. Basic knowledge of corporate finance transactions and loan markets.
  6. Advanced in Microsoft 365 (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, and Access), and some modeling capabilities.
  7. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
