The Director of Creative Services is a collaborative strategic leader responsible for bringing Shaw’s enterprise brand to life across website, digital, video, event and print channels. Reporting to the VP of Corporate Communications, this role leads a cross-functional team and drives cohesion, quality, and alignment across creative platforms.

This role serves as the voice of the brand within the organization, translating strategy into action across teams, advocating for the value of brand consistency, and leading the systems, processes, and relationships that make excellence possible.

The Director directly manages the teams responsible for delivering creative assets and experiences that support Shaw’s strategic priorities and brands, including graphic design, media lab, meetings, events and hospitality, and related agency relationships.

Key Responsibilities

Brand Leadership & Advocacy

  • Champion the enterprise brand across all creative outputs—ensuring Shaw’s visual, video, event, and print deliverables consistently reflect brand standards, tone, and strategic intent.

  • Serve as the voice of the brand within the organization, helping teams understand the “why” behind the brand and modeling what great brand stewardship looks like in practice.

  • Lead brand execution, governance, and internal adoption across all creative services. Establish clear standards and structures for creative reviews, asset use, and approvals.

  • Inspire cross-functional alignment by advocating for the business value of brand, building trust, and helping internal partners bring it to life consistently and effectively.

  • Influence across departments—shaping expectations and guiding the creative interpretation of complex business goals.

Team Leadership & Integration

  • Break down silos between teams and foster a shared sense of purpose across design, video, events, and print.

  • Promote transparency, curiosity, and collaboration—helping creative teams understand each other’s timelines, challenges, and creative processes.

  • Build a high-performing, connected culture that values both creativity and operational discipline.

  • Provide clear priorities and guidance to help teams plan effectively, reduce rework, and elevate the quality of every deliverable.

Operational Excellence & Resourcing

  • Develop systems to assess team capacity, prioritize incoming requests, and allocate work effectively across creative disciplines—including design, video, events, and print.

  • Clarify intake, review, and approval processes to improve speed, transparency, and cross-functional coordination.

  • Guide decision-making around vendor usage by setting parameters for outsourcing based on cost, quality, timing, and brand control.

  • Ensure all creative teams operate with a shared understanding of expectations, workflows, and accountability to deliver consistent, brand-aligned results.

Asset Management & Brand Systems

  • Lead the development and adoption of a centralized asset management system to improve access, consistency, and efficiency.

  • Ensure brand assets—logos, templates, video elements, visual components—are version-controlled and widely available to approved users.

  • Document brand workflows and approval processes to reduce ambiguity and elevate brand alignment.

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, marketing, communications, digital media or a related field.

  • 10–15 years of progressively responsible experience in creative services, brand management, marketing, agency or corporate communications.

  • Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary creative teams, including design, digital and video functions.

  • Proven ability to translate brand strategy into compelling, consistent creative expression across multiple channels.

  • Experience establishing creative processes, brand governance and operational workflows that improve quality, efficiency and collaboration.

  • Strong understanding of digital, web, print, video and emerging creative technologies.

  • Demonstrated ability to influence senior leaders and cross-functional partners without direct authority.

  • Experience managing agency partners, external vendors and creative budgets.

  • Strong communication, presentation and relationship-building skills.
