About the role

We're looking for a Creative Director to lead the creative vision across Cleo - from brand identity and campaign ideas to the performance creative that runs across our paid channels every week.

This is a senior, hands-on leadership role overseeing the creative studio. You'll set the creative standard for everything we make, build and develop a high-performing creative team, and work closely with growth, brand, and product to make sure the work lands. You'll report into the CMO/VP Marketing and be a key voice in shaping how Cleo shows up in the world.

Key Responsibilities

What You'll Own

Brand Creative & Visual Identity

  • Define and evolve Cleo's visual identity - making sure it's distinctive, consistent, and built to scale across markets and formats
  • Own the creative expression of Cleo's brand personality, including how Roast Mode and other signature product moments come to life visually and tonally
  • Build and maintain a creative system that gives the team guardrails without killing creative freedom

Paid Social & Performance Creative

  • Lead the creative strategy for paid social across Meta, TikTok, and beyond - building a fast, high-volume test-and-learn process
  • Partner closely with the growth and performance marketing teams to understand what's working, translate insights into creative hypotheses, and iterate quickly
  • Balance creative quality with the volume and pace that performance channels demand

Campaign Ideation & Production

  • Lead end-to-end campaign development - from brief to concept to production - ensuring the work is strategically grounded and creatively excellent
  • Build a production model that's efficient and scalable, making smart use of in-house resource, agencies, and freelancers
  • Bring rigour to the briefing process so creative work is always tethered to a clear objective

Creative Ops & Workflow

  • Design and own the workflows that allow the creative team to operate at pace without sacrificing quality
  • Build clear ways of working between creative and its key partners - growth, brand, product, and external agencies
  • Track and report on creative output and effectiveness, using data to continuously improve the process


What We're Looking For

Experience

  • Experience in a creative leadership role, ideally spanning both brand and performance
  • Proven track record building and scaling creative functions - you've done this from an early or scrappy stage, not just inherited a mature team
  • Deep experience with paid social creative, particularly Meta and TikTok, and an understanding of what makes performance creative work at scale
  • Experience managing agencies and production partners, and structuring those relationships for quality and accountability

Skills & Approach

  • A rare combination of creative vision and operational rigour - you can inspire a team and build a workflow in the same week
  • Strong strategic instincts - you can read a brief, identify the real opportunity, and push the work to be both original and effective

Compensation range

  • United States: $212,000 - $280,000 gross annually*
  • Other locations: Compensation will be discussed during the interview process

*Final compensation will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications, skills, and previous experience
