Our Counselors for Personalized Learning serve as a primary advocate for student success by partnering with students, families, teachers, and staff to align support around individual needs, interests, and aspirations. They develop and utilize learner profiles and personal learning plans, facilitate ongoing communication with families, and provide guidance on academic planning, course selection, college and career readiness, and successful school transitions. They use student data and assessment results to support planning, growth, placement, and postsecondary opportunities, including scholarships and college entrance requirements. They coordinate referrals and interventions for students requiring academic, behavioral, social-emotional, or crisis support, and develop 504 plans as appropriate. Collaborate with educators and administrators to foster a positive, inclusive learning environment, address student behavior concerns, implement support plans, and ensure students have a voice in the school community. They also participate in building leadership, student supervision, school events, and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Licensing Requirements:
The successful candidate must have earned a B.A. or B.S. degree and holds or is eligible for a Minnesota State Licensure in School Counseling. Additional demonstrated qualifications include: commitment to the equitable education of all students, creative planning and organizational skills, and highly effective interpersonal skills. Ability to successfully implement the responsibilities of the position overview listed above.
Preferences:
We strongly prefer candidates who have exhibited excellence in collaboration with colleagues and an enthusiasm to work with students. Preferred candidates will also have a demonstrated commitment to ongoing learning as evidenced by graduate-level work or an earned degree, as well as participation in professional organization conferences or seminars related to the content area. Prefer candidate with experience working with diverse learners.
