KPMG is currently seeking a Counsel, Investigations to join KPMGs Office of General Counsels (OGC), Litigation and Investigations Group.
Responsibilities:- Serve as a member of the internal investigations team within the Office of General Counsels Litigation and Investigations Group, responsible for leading complex internal investigations, supporting execution of the Firms internal investigations strategy and contributing to team and Firm capability through coaching and training; this role combines hands-on investigative leadership with developing talent and reinforcing consistent practices across engagements
- Execute Internal Investigations Priorities: Support implementation of internal investigations strategy through effective case management, prioritization and execution; identify emerging risks and recurring themes and escalate insights to senior leadership
- Lead and Conduct Complex Internal Investigations: Lead end-to-end execution of sensitive internal investigations, including scoping, evidence review, interviews and reporting; Ensure internal investigations are conducted in a timely, thorough and credible manner; provide practical, risk-informed guidance to business stakeholders throughout the investigative process
- Develop and Support Team Capability: Coach and mentor junior team members, providing guidance on investigative techniques, documentation and professional judgment; contribute to a collaborative, high-performance team environment focused on quality and accountability
- Deliver Training and Promote Awareness: Support the design and delivery of training on investigative practices, regulatory risks and escalation protocols; reinforce awareness of reporting channels and speak-up expectations across the Firm; partner with Compliance and other stakeholders to support training initiatives
- Support Reporting and Risk Insights: Prepare clear, well-structured investigative reports and summaries that align with legal and regulatory expectations for review by senior leadership; analyze case outcomes to identify trends and contribute to broader risk insights
- Contribute to Governance and Process Improvement: Support continuous improvement of investigations methodologies, tools and documentation standards; collaborate with Legal, Compliance and business stakeholders to enhance processes and controls
Qualifications:- Minimum four years of recent experience as an attorney in investigations, litigation, or enforcement matters (law firm, corporate, or government)
- J.D. and/or LL.M. from an accredited law school; Bachelors degree from an accredited college/university; licensed to practice law in the U.S
- Demonstrated experience leading complex workstreams or investigations with increasing independence; critical thinking and analysis in handling sensitive matters
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and investigative skills; effective written and verbal communication skills, including ability to prepare clear, concise reports
- Exposure to training delivery or participation in capability-building initiatives; experience coaching or mentoring junior professionals
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment with high-quality outcomes
