Job Description

Turner & Townsend is seeking a Cost Manager / Quantity Surveyor to join our growing Seattle team and support the delivery of construction cost management services across a diverse portfolio of projects throughout the Pacific Northwest.

In this client-facing role, you will provide cost planning, estimating, procurement, commercial management, and cost control services through all phases of the project lifecycle. Working closely with clients, contractors, consultants, and project teams, you will help drive successful project outcomes while supporting Turner & Townsend's commitment to excellence, collaboration, and client service.

The ideal candidate will have strong cost management and quantity surveying experience, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities across a range of construction projects.

Responsibilities:
  • Advising clients on procurement strategies, managing vendor prequalification processes, assessing proposals and bids, facilitating bid interviews, and supporting contractor appointment processes.
  • Managing estimating services across the project lifecycle, including developing cost estimates, reviewing estimates prepared by team members, presenting estimates and value engineering recommendations to clients, and validating vendor pricing through benchmarking and market analysis.
  • Managing cost reporting by establishing reporting schedules, preparing and presenting cost reports and forecasts, reviewing project budgets and spend forecasts, maintaining commercial risk registers, and facilitating regular project cost meetings.
  • Managing cost control processes, including payment application reviews, change order evaluations, contractor entitlement assessments, and dispute avoidance and resolution.
  • Managing and monitoring project invoicing processes.
  • Benchmarking project performance against comparable projects and market data.
  • Managing final account negotiations, post-contract audits, and project closeout activities.
  • Conducting post-project reviews and documenting lessons learned.
  • Developing project handover procedures and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Utilizing cost estimating, takeoff, and project controls tools to support project delivery.
  • SOX control responsibilities may be part of this role and must be adhered to where applicable.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Cost Management, Quantity Surveying, Engineering, or a related construction field.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of relevant experience working in a cost management, quantity surveying, or commercial management role within the construction industry.
  • RICS accreditation or progress toward accreditation is preferred.
  • Experience supporting cost management services on medium to large-scale construction projects.
  • Construction consultancy experience is strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of construction industry practices, including procurement, value engineering, and cost management principles.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective client and stakeholder relationships.


Additional Information

The salary range for this role is $110,000-$140,000 USD. This range reflects the company's good faith estimate of the base salary for this position at the time of the posting. Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, skills, qualifications, and internal equity. In addition to base salary, employees may be eligible for bonuses and a comprehensive benefits package.
