Job DescriptionThe Cost Accountant IV delivers month-end and ad hoc reporting with an eye toward being responsible for cost analysis activities, such as cost reduction or cost variance. They look to maintain or improve the costs of the company where possible. They provide management with actual cost details as posted to the general ledger and work through costing exceptions to maintain accuracy in the ERP database.
Responsibilities- Complete month-end journal entries related to inventory and cost of goods sold
- Perform cost-variance analyses in order to optimize cost savings on new and proposed programs
- Prepares and analyzes actual and budgeted or forecasted overhead rates for one or more sites
- Analyze and compare the cost of new products to that of existing products
- Assist in the coordination of the annual physical inventory and audits monthly cycle counts
- Analyze and combine multiple data sets of varying formats and prepare reports for management
- Assist in the accumulation of program costs and estimation of costs at completion
QualificationsExperience:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- Minimum eight (8) years of experience in a specialized functional discipline. OR (12) years of experience may be considered in lieu of a Bachelors Degree. OR (6) years of experience may be considered w/ a Masters Degree. OR (3) years of experience may be considered w/ a PhD.
- Experience working as a cost accountant or financial analyst with DCAA and DCMA on government contracts required
