Full Job Description
Project Manager

Purpose:
  • Valkyrie Enterprises has a need for a Project Manager who will be a key person to perform management and technical duties to monitor and control the progress of multi-discipline engineering tasks.
  • Located in San Diego, CA.

Job Description:
  • Direct liaison between the Program Manager and Site Supervisor, the government customer (OSIC), host shipyard facility, ships force, subcontractors/vendors, and/or local RMC.
  • Responsible for the planning, budgeting, executing, monitoring, controlling, and documenting all aspects of assigned projects.
  • Works closely with Program Manager to ensure assigned projects are within scope, direction, and on schedule.
  • Responsible for the preplanning work on upcoming AIT projects to include creating QA Workbook, estimating work to be performed, and creating project, monthly, weekly, and daily work plans.
  • Responsible for the quality of all personnel on assigned projects including subcontractors and vendors, responsible for tracking subcontractor and vendor hours.
  • Responsible for researching, BOM creation, purchasing, tracking, and kitting of project material; coordinates the movement of material to and from assigned projects.
  • Responsible for producing and maintaining integrated schedules for the duration of and completion of assigned projects; will report progress of assigned projects at a minimum of weekly.
  • Responsible for establishing manning requirements for assigned projects.
  • Responsible for RMMCO check-in and check-out for assigned projects.
  • Attends meetings for assigned projects as required.
  • Develop and implement corrosion control programs and strategies.
  • Conduct corrosion risk assessments and recommend mitigation measures.
  • Oversee the inspection and monitoring of corrosion control systems.
  • Coordinate with engineering and maintenance teams to ensure proper installation and maintenance of corrosion control measures.
  • Review and analyze corrosion data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations related to corrosion control.
  • Train and mentor staff on corrosion control best practices.
  • Prepare reports and presentations on corrosion control activities and results.
  • Stay up-to-date on industry best practices and regulations related to corrosion control.
  • Inspect surfaces to be prepared and identify any imperfections or damage.
  • Clean surfaces using appropriate tools and material.
  • Organizational skills and computer literate.
  • Prior project management skills leading teams of 10 or more people.
  • History of assignment on multiple ship classes.

Qualifications:
  • Must have bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or related field or equivalent experience and at least 4 years of program or project management experience. Equivalent experience to bachelor's degree = additional 4 years experience.
  • Must have Working knowledge of project management principles; the ability to detect and resolve conflicts within the scope of the assigned projects and to detect and resolve risks to maintain the assigned projects within budgets and schedules.
  • Familiar with financial reporting and delivery of financial status of projects.
  • Has documented and demonstrated technical background and leadership skills.
  • Must have working knowledge of drawings, shipyard operations, Navy operations, NAVSEA instructions, WAF and Tagout requirements, and general AIT contractor knowledge.
  • Must have general working knowledge of computers/technology and have a working knowledge of Microsoft Products such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.
  • Must have the ability to build a QA Workbook/work package.
  • Must be able to provide technical, administrative, and operational leadership to assigned task(s) including subcontractor/vendor management at the site.
  • Must have the ability to communicate effectively.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Prior Navy E-7-E9 preferred.
  • PMP certification
  • Prefer experience using Microsoft Project to write proposals
  • Previous experience in reading/developing drawings for the navy and MSC ships.
  • Passport holder preferred.
  • Knowledge with in corrosion control, paintings and top coating.

Security Requirements:
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance.
  • Must have the ability to gain access to private and public shipyards and Naval installations.

Travel Requirements:
  • Up to 50% travel nationwide to include international travel as needed.
  • If position requires travel by domestic flight or access to secure federal facilities/military bases, candidate must be able to obtain (by start of position) and maintain appropriate identification credentials, such as REAL ID. Physical Requirements:

  • Subject to outside environmental conditions (extreme cold/heat), subject to noise, vibration, hazards, atmospheric conditions (affect the respiratory system), frequently work in close quarters and/or function in narrow aisles or passageways (areas that could cause claustrophobia).
  • Protective clothing or equipment and face shields or goggles shall be worn when welding, cutting, or working with molten metal.
  • Remaining in a stationary position, often standing, or sitting for prolonged periods.
  • Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
  • Communicating with others to exchange information.
  • Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
  • Light work that includes moving objects up to 20 pounds.
