Full Job Description
Armstrong Teasdale is seeking a lateral associate with trusts & estates expertise to join its Corporate Services Group as a Trusts & Estates Associate in our St. Louis office. The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of experienceworking on complex estate, tax, and wealth planning matters for a variety of clients, including individuals and families, banks and trusts companies, wealth management advisors, and private foundations.

  • Simultaneously handles the high-level and strategic aspects of multiple legal matters at different stages of progression, from inception to conclusion;
  • Possess strong attention to detail and good interpersonal skills for communicating with attorneys and clients;
  • Demonstrates an ability to work independently and productively and show a strong interest in advancing a career in estate planning and administration;
  • Produces quality legal work and bills the required amounts of hours to ensure excellent client services;
  • Demonstrates some success in business management and/or business generation through individual or group efforts; and

Required Education: Juris Doctor

Preferred Education: LLM in Taxation is a plus

Required Licenses and/or Certifications: Licensed to practice law in good standing in one or more jurisdictions where the Firm conducts business; must maintain applicable license renewal and CLE requirements.

Required Experience : 3+ years' experience in complex estate, tax and wealth planning matters, including but not limited to: developing, drafting and implementing estate planning documents, including trusts, wills, advance directives and powers of attorney; preparation, review, and analysis of tax forms, including income tax returns, gift tax returns and estate tax returns, and; business succession planning. Prior experience working at a law firm is a plus.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Indirect - actively utilizes support staff or junior associates to ensure client satisfaction.

Physical Activity: The employee will be required to sit (or utilize a standing desk) for prolonged periods and work on a computer.

Travel Required: Less than 10%
