Responsibilities

  • Lead quality improvement projects using Six Sigma tools to minimize scrap and rework.
  • Train manufacturing teams on quality tools and best practices to boost quality competencies.
  • Participate in PFMEA and Control Plan updates at all plants.
  • Develop and maintain corporate quality processes and ensure they are tailored for OC Doors Plants.
  • Conduct process audits and provide training and support to plant teams and auditors.
  • Guide plants to achieve QMS certification for Doors.
  • Perform audits on products and raw materials, offering guidance to quality teams.
  • Coordinate and lead manufacturing trials for improvement and new product development projects (PPAP).
  • Manage special projects as needed and report on quality metrics to foster continuous improvement.

Full Job Description
PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The Corporate Quality Engineer is responsible for driving structured quality improvement efforts with sustainable results across the organization. This position will also play a key role in new product introductions as well as validating capital delivery efforts. As needed, this position will partner with the Doors Technology Center to identify product construction enhancements.

Reports to: Corporate Quality Manager-Interior, Doors

Span of Control: Quality improvement projects and Quality Management System implementation within Doors Interior Plants.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Quality Strategy Execution

  • Lead improvement projects in the plants utilizing Six Sigma tools to reduce scrap/rework through improved process control and mistake proofing methods.
  • Increase quality competencies by providing leadership and training to the manufacturing teams on quality tools and systems.
  • Participate in all plant PFMEA and Control Plan update activities.
  • Create and maintain corporate quality processes/procedures and ensure content is appropriate for OC Doors Plants.
  • Conduct process audits and assist in training/guidance to plants and other auditors.
  • Lead effort to train plants to achieve Doors QMS certification.
  • Conduct product/raw material audits and provide training/guidance to plant quality teams.
  • Coordinate and lead manufacturing trials for improvement projects and new product development projects (PPAP).
  • Undertake special projects as required.
  • Report on quality metrics to promote continuous improvement.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree required. Engineering concentration preferred.
  • LEAN and/or Six Sigma Experience (Green belt or Black belt is preferred)
