Position Overview

NANO Nuclear Energy is seeking a Corporate Development Associate to support the Company's strategic growth initiatives through M&A, corporate development, financial planning, and business analysis. This role will work closely with senior leadership to evaluate strategic opportunities, support capital allocation decisions, and provide financial oversight across NANO Nuclear's growing portfolio of subsidiaries and business lines.

The ideal candidate will play a key role in executing corporate development initiatives, developing financial models and investment analyses, and coordinating budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning across the organization. Working cross-functionally with finance, engineering, operations, legal, and business development teams, this individual will help translate complex operational and market dynamics into actionable insights that support executive decision-making and long-term value creation.

Responsibilities

Corporate Development & Strategic Finance
  • Support the evaluation and execution of strategic initiatives, including acquisitions, strategic partnerships, joint ventures, and capital allocation opportunities.
  • Manage key aspects of the M&A process, including financial modeling, valuation, due diligence, transaction execution, and integration planning.
  • Develop investment cases and financial analyses for inorganic and organic growth opportunities across NANO Nuclear's portfolio of businesses.
  • Prepare presentations and analyses for executive leadership, the Board of Directors, investors, and financing partners.
  • Partner with senior leadership to evaluate strategic opportunities and support long-term corporate planning.

Financial Planning & Portfolio Analysis
  • Coordinate the annual budgeting, long-range planning, and rolling forecast processes across the corporate organization and its subsidiaries.
  • Build and maintain integrated financial models that consolidate operating performance, capital requirements, and cash flow across multiple business units.
  • Develop scenario analyses and forecasts to support strategic planning, capital allocation, and financing decisions.
  • Monitor subsidiary financial performance and identify trends, risks, and opportunities through regular reporting and financial analysis.
  • Develop dashboards and KPIs that improve visibility into business performance across the organization.

Capital Planning & Business Support
  • Support equity financing, debt transactions, project finance initiatives, and other strategic capital planning activities.
  • Partner with engineering, operations, and business development teams to evaluate new commercial opportunities, technology investments, and strategic initiatives.
  • Assist business leaders in developing financial analyses for new programs, investments, and operational initiatives.

Growth & Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Collaborate across finance, legal, engineering, operations, investor relations, and business development to execute strategic initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to improve financial planning processes, reporting capabilities, and analytical tools as the company continues to scale.
  • Take increasing ownership of strategic finance and corporate development initiatives, with the opportunity to grow into a broader leadership role as the organization expands.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 6-10 years of progressive experience in: investment banking, FP&A, or strategic finance, with at least 2-3 years in a managerial capacity to manage a team of two.
  • Meaningful experience in the energy sector is required; candidates may have come through IB, consulting, or corporate finance, but must have direct exposure to energy businesses, projects, or transactions (conventional, nuclear, renewables, or infrastructure).
  • Possess strong financial modeling and analytical capabilities, transaction experience, and the ambition to grow into a broader leadership role as NANO Nuclear continues to expand.
  • Demonstrated experience owning or contributing significantly to enterprise financial planning and forecasting processes.
  • Involvement in M&A processes, whether on the buy-side, sell-side, or as an advisor, is strongly preferred.
  • Advanced financial modeling skills; expert-level proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Proven ability to translate financial complexity into clear, executive-level insights and recommendations.
  • Strong leadership presence with the ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications
  • MBA or CFA strongly preferred.
  • Prior experience in nuclear, advanced energy, infrastructure, aerospace, or defense sectors.
  • Familiarity with project finance structures, regulated industries, or government contracting environments.
  • Experience supporting capital raises, M&A processes, or investor relations in a growth stage company.
