Corporate Counsel
Remote/hybrid


Counsel (Counsel) will advise the company on legal matters and on providing legal protection. The counsel works in and out of the courtroom on a wide range of legal matters. This includes drafting and negotiating contracts, filing government reports, drafting and reviewing legal documents, and reviewing policies including employee handbooks. The Counsel will possess great communication, analytical, and negotiation skills. The Counsel will develop the organizations policies on issues related to the industry, corporate governance, and regulatory matters. The Counsel will also review partnerships between their company and vendors, subcontractors, and partners.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
  • Juris Doctorate and License to practice law in CA
  • Minimum 3 years of experience with corporate or civil law
  • Experience in Business and Workers Comp preferred
  • Ability to create, implement, evaluate and revise process guidelines
  • Aptitude for strong self-management with the ability to work independently and collaborate with cross functional teams.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION

GENERAL DUTIES

  • Comply with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, anticipating legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements and making recommendations
  • Continuously update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks and participating in professional organizations.
  • Assist in the evaluation of reports, decisions and results of the department in relation to established goals, recommending new approaches, policies and procedures to continually improve the efficiency of the department and services performed

PROFESSIONAL, LEADERSHIP AND TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE
  • Knowledge of applicable legal and regulatory requirements relating to contracts, licensing, software as a service, marketing, technology, privacy and security
  • Experience in analysis, review, and drafting of complex vendor contracts required
  • Works well with internal clients and other stakeholders
  • Attend educational workshops and industry events, reviews professional publications, establishes personal networks with industry influencers and participates in professional societies
  • Monitors competitor products, sales, and marketing activities
