Position Overview

dormakaba is seeking a Corporate Counsel based in Indianapolis, Indiana, to support our Group Legal - Americas team. Working within a small, highly collaborative legal group, this role provides practical, business-focused legal support across a wide range of commercial matters. You will partner closely with diverse business and functional units, navigate cross border business models, and bring clarity and judgment to an evolving operational landscape. This is a broad-scope generalist role suited for someone who enjoys variety, cross-functional engagement, and delivering clear legal guidance that helps the business move forward.

HIRING SALARY RANGE: Base Salary $140,000-$150,000 (Salary determined by education, experience, knowledge, skills, internal equity, and market alignment). Annual Bonus eligible. Visit our career site for more information on benefits.

What you will do
  • Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements across multiple business units, including technology-enabled and SaaS-related offerings
  • Serve as a practical legal advisor to business stakeholders, providing clear, timely guidance that supports commercial objectives and risk-balanced decision-making
  • Improve and maintain contract templates, playbooks, and processes to enable greater efficiency and consistency across the region
  • Support cross-functional teams through training, documentation, and day-to-day legal guidance on contracting workflows and operational considerations
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to address issues early, manage outside counsel on disputes when needed, and help the business navigate evolving regulatory expectations


What we require

  • J.D. from an accredited law school and admission to at least one U.S. state bar, with ability to become licensed in Indiana within a reasonable time
  • 3+ years of relevant legal experience (law firm, in-house, or a combination) with exposure to commercial contracting
  • Experience handling all manners of complex business transactions including negotiating complex commercial agreements


What we prefer
  • Prior in-house experience supporting commercial or operational teams along with M&A activities and litigation
  • Experience drafting or negotiating SaaS, software licensing, or other technology-related agreements
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships within a small legal team and across cross-functional stakeholders
  • Experience developing or improving legal processes, templates, or playbooks
