Job Description

This role is a strategic partner to our global business teams, with a focus on those providing advisory services (including the Emergo by UL business and the Healthy Buildings business). This attorney will provide practical, business-oriented legal advice on contracts, commercial transactions, risk management, and related matters.

This is a hybrid position requiring three days per week in a UL Solutions office in the United States. The preferred location is Northbrook, IL (UL Solutions headquarters), Austin, TX (headquarters of Emergo by UL business), or Chicago, IL.

Responsibilities

  • Contracting: Negotiate and draft a wide range of commercial agreements, including master services agreements, terms and conditions, confidentiality agreements, and related documentation.
  • Business Partnership: Serve as a trusted advisor to business leaders, delivering clear, actionable guidance on commercial and operational issues.
  • Process Optimization: Lead initiatives to streamline contracting processes, develop and maintain playbooks, and enhance contract lifecycle management tool (Ironclad).
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate legal and operational risks in new and existing service offerings; provide pragmatic solutions aligned with business objectives.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with global stakeholders to implement best practices and ensure compliance with internal policies and applicable laws.
  • Continuous Improvement: Contribute to legal department projects, policy development, and operational enhancements.

Total Rewards: We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. The estimated salary range for this position is $170,000 to $190,000 USD and is based on multiple factors, including job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, as well as other factors. This position is eligible for annual bonus compensation with a target payout of 20% of the base salary. This position also provides health benefits such as medical, dental and vision; wellness benefits such as mental and financial health; and retirement savings (401K) commensurate with the standard rewards offered in each individual location or country. We also provide full-time employees with paid time off including vacation (15 days), holiday including floating holidays (12 days) and sick time off (72 hours).
