Overview

The Role & Impact

As the Corporate Controller, you will serve as the primary operational partner to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO). You will lead our 14-person finance team, ensuring financial reporting accuracy, robust internal controls, smooth audit management, and long-term financial sustainability for our multi-entity enterprise.

Rather than managing from behind a desk, you will lead by lifting others—removing roadblocks for your accounting team, serving campus operational leaders, and stewarding resources that directly enrich the lives of our residents.

Responsibilities
  • Financial Stewardship & Reporting: Direct month-end and year-end close, multi-entity consolidations, intercompany accounting, and timely and accurate GAAP-compliant financial statement preparation across 17 legal entities.
  • Audit & Compliance Management: Act as primary liaison for external audits, lead Form 990 tax reporting support, and ensure ongoing compliance with HUD, Medicare, bond covenants, and regulatory bodies.
  • Servant Leadership & Team Mentorship: Oversee a team of 12 accounting professionals (directing the Accounting Manager). Coach, mentor, and foster cross-training to build a resilient, high-performing culture.
  • Internal Controls & Risk Management: Maintain a strong control environment, establish policies and procedures, assist CFO with cash management, and safeguard organizational assets.
  • Systems & Process Innovation: Drive continuous improvement in financial technology, budgeting systems, and reporting workflows to improve efficiency across all campuses.
Qualifications

We seek candidates whose technical expertise is matched by their commitment to integrity, humility, and community:

  • Educated & Credentialed: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required (Master’s/MBA preferred).  Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a closely related field may be considered with relevant progressive accounting leadership experience.
  • CPA strongly preferred.
  • Experienced Leader: 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 5+ years supervising multi-entity accounting teams.
  • Nonprofit & Healthcare Savvy: Deep knowledge of GAAP non-profit accounting. Experience in Senior Living, CCRCs, HUD Affordable Housing, Skilled Nursing, or Medicare reimbursement environments is highly desirable.
  • Systems & Analytics Expert: Advanced Excel skills and proven success leading financial software implementations or process automations.
  • A Servant Leader: Someone who leads with empathy, supports their team, communicates transparently with non-financial leaders, and aligns naturally with our core values of kindness, respect, and integrity.

Why Work With Us?

  • Meaningful Purpose: Your work directly supports high-quality, dignified living for over 2,000 seniors.
  • Leadership Culture: A supportive executive environment where leadership is defined by service, humility, and mutual accountability.
  • Stability & Growth: A well-established, financially sound non-profit enterprise committed to staff development.
  • Comprehensive Benefits Package: Competitive salary, health/dental/vision coverage, retirement plans, generous paid time off, and wellness support.
