Full Job Description
Substack is building a new economic engine for culture, giving the brightest, most interesting, and most creative people on the internet the power of their own publishing platform. Substack empowers independent writers, artists, videographers, podcasters, and creators of all types to create, share, and make a living off their work through subscriptions, while offering them creative freedom, ownership, and a direct connection to their audiences.

As Substack's Corporate Communications Manager, you will play a vital role in supporting our storytelling efforts, with a focus on rapid-response, legal, international, policy, and standards & enforcement communications. This role requires a detail-oriented, highly organized individual who can manage strategic communications work on deadline. This position will join the Communications team, reporting directly to the Senior Communications Manager.

Core responsibilities:
  • Support the development and execution of key communications initiatives.
  • Assess and manage incoming communications requests, collaborating with internal stakeholders across legal, standards & enforcement, and executive teams to manage responses.
  • Draft press materials, including media briefing documents, spokesperson bios, and key deliverables for interviews and speaking opportunities.
  • Work closely with the events team to manage logistics and coordinate executive attendance, including travel to support onsite presence as needed.
  • Help improve and maintain team operations by building efficient processes, reporting systems, and administrative workflows.
  • Assist in guiding internal communications efforts, including employee messaging and All Hands programming.

About You:
  • Experience in Journalism, PR, or Communications roles (4-6 years)
  • Excellent written, verbal, and diplomatic skills, with a sharp attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
  • A resourceful and adaptable mindset, capable of executing projects independently while collaborating effectively with teams.
  • A strategic thinker who can work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, adjusting to shifting priorities as needed.
  • Crisis experience: Strategic thinker with a spine of steel, someone who embraces high-pressure moments.
  • Policy experience: Comfortable collaborating with our international, legal and standards & enforcement teams, especially on messaging as we expand globally.
  • Ambitious self-starter, open-minded, with a high sense of initiative and urgency.
  • Willing to collaborate with any writer or creator on the platform regardless of their views.
  • Located in New York City

Substack's compensation package includes a market-competitive salary, equity for all full-time roles, and exceptional benefits. Our cash compensation salary range for this role is $125,000-$140,000. Multiple factors, including candidate experience and expertise, determine final offer amounts and may vary from the amounts listed above.
