About the Role:Reporting to Manager, Student Leadership & Engagement, the Coordinator, Student Leadership Development advances, coordinates and assesses student leadership, mentorship and skill-development initiatives that support student engagement, belonging and success.
The Coordinator, Student Leadership Development designs and facilitates learning experiences that help students build leadership capacity, strengthen peer connections and apply transferable skills across their academic, personal and professional journeys. They provide guidance and support to student leaders, mentors, facilitators, volunteers and student-led leadership groups, while collaborating with campus partners to align programming with student needs and institutional priorities. Through ongoing assessment, partnership development and responsible program administration, they contribute to a coordinated and student-centred approach to leadership development within Student Life & Success.
The Coordinator, Student Leadership Development will: - Develop, coordinate and deliver leadership development initiatives that support students in building transferable skills, self-awareness, confidence, civic responsibility and capacity to contribute meaningfully within the Brock community and beyond;
- Design and maintain student-centred learning experiences that reflect current practices in leadership education, student development, experiential learning, inclusion and accessibility;
- Facilitate workshops, training, discussions and other learning opportunities for students and student leaders, adapting content and delivery approaches to meet diverse learning needs and developmental stages;
- Coordinate an annual cycle of leadership learning opportunities that supports students at different points in their leadership journey and strengthens engagement across the student lifecycle;
- Provide guidance, governance support and oversight for student leadership organizations and honour societies, ensuring effective operations, responsible practices and meaningful engagement;
- Lead student transition, mentoring and peer support initiatives by coordinating programs, training student leaders, and collaborating with campus partners to strengthen belonging and student success;
- Contribute to department-wide planning, programming and operational priorities by providing leadership development expertise, student engagement insight and flexible team support where appropriate;
- Support a welcoming and responsive environment for students, staff, partners and visitors by contributing to shared service standards and effective team communication;
- Promote inclusive, accessible and student-centred practices in collaboration, program delivery and team-based work.
- Develop and coordinate program-related websites, communications, promotional materials, and social media content to support student awareness, participation and engagement, in alignment with departmental and University standards;
- Develop and maintain key performance indicators, assessment practices, and reporting processes to measure the effectiveness, reach, and impact of leadership development, mentorship, and student engagement initiatives, and to inform continuous improvement;
- Prepare reports, summaries and other documentation that communicate program activity, student outcomes, operational needs and opportunities for improvement.
Key Skills and Experience:- Experience in a leadership role supporting students, with an element of student leadership programming, facilitation, marketing, communications and/or training;
- Working knowledge of student development, student engagement, leadership development, mentorship, transition theory, and co-curricular learning, with the ability to apply these concepts to student programming and support;
- Knowledge of best practices in leadership education, peer mentoring, experiential learning, student involvement, and inclusive student engagement;
- Ability to design, coordinate, facilitate, and assess student programs, workshops, training, and engagement initiatives that support diverse student needs and learning outcomes;
- Adept at building and sustaining collaborative relationships with students, staff, faculty, campus partners, student organizations, and external partners;
- Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to develop clear communications, promotional content, reports, and documentation;
- Proven capacity to manage complex projects including multiple timelines, priorities, and stakeholder expectations;
- Ability to collect, analyze, summarize, and use participation data, feedback, assessment results, and key performance indicators to inform decision-making and continuous improvement;
- Sound judgment, discretion, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess situations, respond to emerging needs, and make recommendations aligned with university policies and departmental priorities;
- Capable of work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment with changing priorities, competing deadlines, and periodic evening or weekend commitments; and
- Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, accessibility, and student-centred practice.
Salary and Total Rewards: - Job Grade K, Salary Scale $62,115.00 - 99,384.00
- Target Hiring Range: $62,115.00 - 64,115.00
