About the Role: Reporting to the Director, Admissions, the Manager, Academic Transitions provides leadership and operational oversight for undergraduate transitional and access programming, including academic bridging initiatives, concurrent secondary school enrolment, transfer pathways, prior learning assessment and recognition, and other admissions pathways that support student access and success. The incumbent develops and strengthens pathway opportunities that enhance student mobility, support enrolment objectives, and create seamless transition experiences for diverse and non-traditional learner populations. Working collaboratively with partners across the University, including the Office of the Vice-Provost & AVP, Academic; Academic Faculties, Chairs and Directors, Student Recruitment, Academic Advising, Student Life and Success, and Brock International, the Manager, Academic Transitions advances initiatives aligned with Brock's strategic priorities for learner access, retention, and success. The incumbent also cultivates relationships with external post-secondary partners, spearheads institutional transfer and pathway development initiatives, provides strategic leadership to the Transfer Pathways Specialist, and drives the continuous improvement of transition-related programming and services.
The Manager, Academic Transitions will: - Develop, implement, and manage undergraduate transition, access, and pathway programs that align with institutional enrolment priorities and support student mobility, access to higher education, and success for diverse and non-traditional learner populations;
- Identify and advance opportunities for new partnerships, pathway agreements, and innovative programming in collaboration with internal partners across the University, and external institutions and organizations;
- Guide implementation of policies, procedures, and academic processes related to transition and pathway programming;
- Analyze enrolment, pathway, and student success data to evaluate program effectiveness, identify emerging trends, support continuous improvement, and inform evidence-based decision-making;
- Cultivate and maintain collaborative relationships with internal units to advance coordinated access, transition, and student success initiatives across the University;
- Establish and sustain partnerships with secondary schools, post-secondary institutions, community organizations, and external agencies;
- Develop and deliver presentations, information sessions, and knowledge-sharing opportunities related to transfer, pathway, and transition initiatives;
- Connect students with appropriate resources, services, and referrals to support successful transitions and informed decision-making;
- Provide subject matter expertise on transfer practices, pathway development, admissions processes;
- Provide leadership, coaching, mentorship, and performance management for direct reports, fostering a collaborative, service-oriented, and student-focused team environment;
- Evaluate applicant files, educational background, and supporting documentation to determine pathway eligibility, admissions considerations, and transition opportunities;
- Develop and facilitate admissions, transition, and orientation sessions, and provide advising, guidance, and transitional support to prospective and current students.
Key Skills and Experience: - Undergraduate degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience;
- Experience in post-secondary admissions, registrar's office, student services, or advising functions, including experience leading or supervising staff;
- Experience in a Leadership/Manager/Supervisor role;
- Knowledge of post-secondary admissions, transfer credit, pathway development, student mobility, and transition programming within a university environment;
- Understanding of current trends, barriers, and emerging practices related to student access, retention, mobility, and success in post-secondary education;
- Knowledge of university governance, academic regulations, academic structures, program requirements, and institutional policy frameworks;
- Experience interpreting and applying admissions policies, transfer agreements, articulation frameworks, and pathway processes and practices;
- Experience coordinating complex projects, initiatives, and cross-functional collaborations involving multiple stakeholders;
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to interpret data, assess trends, and support evidence-based decision-making;
- Strong consultative and relationship-management skills, including the ability to synthesize information and provide strategic recommendations;
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, presentation, and facilitation skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences and build effective partnerships;
- Ability to manage sensitive, complex, and confidential matters with sound judgment, diplomacy, and discretion;
- Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, accessibility, and student-centred service delivery;
- Proficiency using student information systems and institutional technologies to support program administration, reporting, and service delivery.
Preferred or Asset Skills: - Project management certification
Salary and Total Rewards: - Job Grade M, Salary Scale ($74,235-118,776);
- Target Hiring Range: $74,235-77,000*
