Full Job Description
The Opportunity: (Vacancy: Replacement)

Reporting to the Supervisor, Data and Applications, this role is responsible for operating and maintaining the Enterprise GIS environment (architecture, hardware, software and database), including all points of integration. This individual leads the GIS team in the execution of the Town's GIS Strategy and works with Town staff to coordinate and prioritize the use of the Enterprise GIS. They also support others in the organization in the development and application of GIS technologies while monitoring and evaluating the work of GIS staff. As the Coordinator, GIS, you will perform the following duties, including but not limited to:

Functional Responsibilities:

  • Lead the implementation of the Town's GIS Strategic plan and design, develop, implement and administer the Enterprise GIS system and databases to access and store geospatial data.
  • Work with teams to identify, document and review business processes related to GIS to enable the creation of workflows and models to automate business processes, improve operational efficiencies and maximize efficiencies and performance.
  • Identify, analyze, and define changes to GIS software and related systems and subsystems to enable seamless integration of GIS with other enterprise applications (i.e. AMANDA, Xplor Recreation, Great Plains, Central Square Property Tax.
  • Develop GIS policies and procedures, design and implement organization-wide GIS standards that support the GIS Strategic pillars (architecture, hardware, software and database)
  • Work with internal users, departments and external parties to ensure spatial and mapping data provided to or used by the Town meet the Town's GIS data and technology architecture standards
  • Perform additional duties and undertake special projects as assigned


The Ideal Candidate

We are seeking an experienced professional a post-secondary diploma or degree in Information Technology, Geography, GIS, Geomatics or closely related field. Post graduate certificate in GIS is an asset. Our ideal candidate has a minimum of 5 years of related work experience with GIS tools and technologies, a minimum of 1 year of experience in GIS solution design/development, including installation, configuration and administration of an enterprise environment and a minimum of 1 year experience leading teams and GIS projects.

We are seeking an individual with experience with the following: ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro, Survey123, Field Maps, ArcGIS Collector, ArcGIS Server, FME, ArcSDE, Spatial Analyst, Model Builder, Geocortex, and Python and experience in the creation of workflow models, Microsoft Office, Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, and AutoCAD. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated understanding of cartographic design, map projections, horizontal and vertical datum, and complementary technologies such as remote sensing and GPS and the ability to analyze spatial data through mapping software and designing digital maps with geographic data and various other data sets.

The successful candidate for Coordinator, GIS will be required to work a flexible schedule, including in the office, remotely and after hours (as required).

This position offers a salary range of $99,166.76 to $123,958.45 plus a competitive benefit package.
