Job Type:
RegularThe Cooperative Advisor is part of a multifunctional team responsible for developing and maintaining a relationship based on trust between Agropur and the dairy farmers who are members of the sectors assigned to him. Whether on the farm or remotely, the Cooperative Advisor oversees the quality of the services offered to members and represents Agropur in the agricultural community at the regional level.

The Cooperative Advisor is part of a multidisciplinary team responsible for developing and maintaining a trust-based relationship between Agropur and the dairy producer members in the territories assigned to them. Whether on the farm or working remotely, the Cooperative Advisor ensures the quality of services provided to members and represents Agropur within the regional agricultural community.

The role involves close collaboration with various stakeholders, including operations and logistics teams, in a collaborative and growing environment. The position is based in Sherbrooke, Quebec.

  • Salary scale 004: $73 000 to $91 200(Base salary will be determined based on your academic background, experience, training, and skills related to the position.)


How you will contribute to collective success:

  • Organize, coordinate, and facilitate training activities, facilitator meetings, regional assemblies, and other individual or group meetings with members to inform them about Agropur's activities and business environment.
  • Support members in their efforts to produce high-quality milk.
  • Monitor initiatives aimed at improving on-farm milk quality in accordance with milk marketing agreements and/or policies implemented by Agropur.
  • Follow up with members whose milk analysis results fall outside established standards, in accordance with Agropur's On-Farm Milk Quality Intervention Protocol.
  • Provide members with the necessary explanations regarding the Cooperative's regulations and policies. Collect and complete requests and other forms, forwarding them to Head Office for review and consideration.
  • Inform and encourage members to implement best practices related to animal welfare and sustainability, in accordance with codes, standards, policies, and programs established by Agropur or the dairy industry (e.g., proAction).
  • Collaborate on various committees dedicated to delivering diversified, high-quality services.
  • Stay informed of developments within the dairy industry that may impact Cooperative members.


The type of player who fits in well with the team:

  • Bachelor's degree in Agronomy, with a specialization in Animal Production, Plant Production, General Agronomy, or Agricultural Economics required.
  • An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience required.
  • Bilingualism (French and English), both spoken and written, required.
  • Knowledge of dairy cattle production and the dairy industry.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite, and the ability to quickly learn new software.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in various settings, both independently and collaboratively.
  • Willingness and ability to travel between different regions, including occasional overnight stays.
  • Flexibility to work extended hours when required.

Education Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in agronomy, animal production, plant production, general agronomy or agroeconomics.
  • Equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.


Experience Required:
  • Minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience required.
  • Bilingual, English and French, spoken and written, required.


Certification/Licensure Required:
  • Be a member of the Ordre des Agronomes du Québec or in the process of becoming one.


Skills Required:
  • Knowledge of dairy cattle farming and the dairy industry.
  • Good knowledge of computer tools, including the Microsoft Office Suite and ease of learning new software.
  • Effective and quality communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Capacity to work in various contexts: autonomously and collaboratively.
  • Ability to travel between the various sectors with occasional overnight.
  • Willingness to adapt to extended working hours, as needed.
