Converting Technical Leader role supporting the Consumer Products Group Operations located in
Halsey, OR.
The Converting Technical Leader at Georgia-Pacific typically plays a crucial role in overseeing and enhancing the converting processes within the manufacturing environment.
What You Will Do - Embrace influential leadership to support the organization while advancing our Principle-Based Management (PBM) culture
- Lead and implement process improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, efficiency, and quality in converting operations
- Utilize Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies to identify and reduce waste
- Provide technical guidance and support to the converting team, including troubleshooting equipment and process issues
- Collaborate with maintenance and engineering teams to ensure optimal machine performance
- Lead and mentor a team of technicians and operators, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and safety
- Conduct training sessions to enhance the skill set of the team
- Oversee projects related to new equipment installation, upgrades, and process optimization
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely and successful project completion.
- Work closely with quality assurance teams to ensure compliance with industry standards and customer expectations
- Analyze production data to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement
- Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure success and drive performance
Basic Qualifications - Demonstrated leadership in a manufacturing environment, including supervising and developing technical staff.
- Hands-on expertise in paper converting (tissue/towel) and solid knowledge of paper manufacturing processes, equipment, and industry standards.
- Strong technical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, including leading root-cause analysis (RCA) and resolving operational issues.
- Data-driven approach to operations: experience using production data, KPIs, and trend analysis to identify issues and drive corrective actions.
- Proven ability to coordinate with cross-functional teams to support production continuity and equipment reliability.
Preferred Qualifications (what will put you ahead) - Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, or a related field - or equivalent practical experience.
- Proficiency with data analysis tools and software (e.g., Excel, statistical tools, MES/SCADA reporting).
- Demonstrated success leading equipment projects, capital initiatives, or cross-functional improvement teams.
- Experience applying continuous improvement methodologies (Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma) and driving sustained improvements.
- Experience implementing and tracking process improvements using KPIs and project metrics.
