Controls/Test Engineer.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $71000 - $105000 a year.

What you'll do:

Position Overview
The Controls/Test Engineer supports manufacturing operations by assisting with assembly, testing, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of electrical control systems and production test equipment. This role provides hands-on technical support to production teams, collaborates with engineering functions, and helps ensure products are built and tested to quality, safety, and engineering standards.

Key Responsibilities
• Support production teams by responding to technical questions related to product definitions, builds, and test processes.
• Assist with troubleshooting electrical test equipment, PLC/HMI systems, and basic controls-related issues on the shop floor.
• Help maintain and update test processes, product definition data (drawings, BOMs, characteristics), and documentation.
• Support implementation of engineering change notices (ECNs/ECRs) and design updates in production.
• Participate in daily Tier meetings; act as a liaison between Production and Engineering when needed.
• Assist in evaluating alternative components during supply constraints or cost-out initiatives.
• Follow electrical safe-work practices and identify potential safety hazards in processes or equipment.
• Contribute to root-cause analysis and continuous-improvement activities supporting productivity, quality, and equipment uptime.
• Support basic setup, validation, and troubleshooting of PLC/HMI-based control systems and automated test equipment as instructed.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related field.
• 0-3 years of experience (internship/co-op included) in manufacturing, electromechanical systems, or controls/test engineering.
• Foundational knowledge of electrical/electronic components, circuits, and controls.
• Experience with custom engineering design and processes
• Experience with engineering or technical software such as AutoCAD/Inventor, LabVIEW, or PLC/HMI tools (exposure acceptable).
• Basic understanding of PLCs, HMIs, or industrial automation (coursework or lab experience accepted).
• Must be legally authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications
• Proficiency in various software applications- i.e. Computer Aided Design (AutoCAD and Inventor preferred), MS Office suite, MiniTab, etc.
• Knowledge of power systems, voltage regulator or distribution/power transformer products/applications, and/or industrial automation/controls.
• Experience with problem-solving or root-cause analysis tools (8D, A3, fishbone, etc.).
• Exposure to ERP systems (e.g., SAP) or database tools (SQL/MySQL).
• Hands-on experience with embedded systems, PCB assembly concepts, or basic test plans.
• Familiarity with modeling, detailing and layout drafting techniques is desired.
• Ability to read, evaluate, and interpret internal design specification documents and assist in developing a comprehensive manufacturing test plan.
