Job Title: Controls Manager Location: Long Beach, CA (Onsite) Industry: Hybrid-Electric Aviation We are seeking a Controls Manager based onsite at their Long Beach facility. In this role, you will lead the development, integration, and certification of flight-critical avionics and control systems. The position bridges the gap between hardware and software engineering, playing a central role in delivering safety-critical architectures for production aircraft. Key Responsibilities: Lead the end-to-end design, implementation, and integration of aircraft control systems and avionics hardware/software on-site at the Long Beach engineering facility. Oversee airborne software development life cycle compliance in accordance with DO-178B (or DO-178C) guidelines. Collaborate closely with mechanical, systems, and powertrain teams to align control strategies with physical vehicle requirements. Qualifications & Experience: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. 8-10+ years of overall engineering experience, including 5+ years directly in an avionics or flight controls role. Deep practical knowledge of DO-178B/C software standards and FAA/EASA certification processes. Proven understanding of both software and hardware domains within flight-critical embedded systems. Hands-on familiarity with embedded control systems, hardware-in-the-loop testing, and microcontrollers. Experience with complex aircraft systems, electric propulsion, or hybrid powertrain architectures is strongly preferred. Must be located in or willing to relocate to the Long Beach area for full-time onsite work.
