A Snapshot of Your Day The controls engineer will be part of Customer Technical support, as the name may imply, we respond to our customer's needs for technical support. Your day may start with an email from our distributor in Japan looking for technical clarifications for some recently purchased engines, followed by a local customer within Indiana who's having trouble starting an engine. Either way, our customers look to us in times of difficulty.
Globally supporting our customers can sometimes feel like an immense task, but we act as a team, and no one is expected to know all the answers. Of course, there are also the less mundane tasks such as reviewing service bulletins and manuals prior to being released.
How You'll Make an Impact - Provide global technical support for the SGT-A05 (nee Allison 501) gas turbine portfolio owned by customers in the oil / gas and the distributed power generation industries.
- Travel to customer sites to resolve technical issues.
- Provide technical advice to other departments such as Sales, Design Engineering, Project Engineering, Parts and Operations Departments.
- Provide support for the Siemens Energy Regional Technical Support teams and Support field service engineers at customer sites. This will primarily relate to control and performance issues.
- Provide advice and support to the technical writer for the SGT-A05 range of gas turbines.
- Act as an interface between engineering, overhaul repair facilities and the packagers of the SGT-A05 gas turbines for performance related topics.
What You Bring - Engineering degree in mechanical and/or electrical engineering (associates degree may be considered).
- Basic understanding of PLC systems and industrial automation concepts. Exposure to Allen-Bradley PLCs through coursework, internships, or hands-on projects is a plus.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment to support customer needs and troubleshooting activities.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with customers, team members, and cross-functional groups.
- Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally to support customer projects, installations, and field service activities.
- Basic knowledge of electrical schematics, P&ID's, instrumentation, or industrial networking.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and a willingness to learn engineering and business software such as SAP, CAD, and analysis tools.
- Experience with rotating equipment is preferred but not required.
- Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
