Compensation

At S&C, we are dedicated to providing competitive and equitable compensation for all our team members, and we are committed to transparency in our pay practices. The estimated annual base salary range for this position is $106,073 - $140,549.6. Individual pay within this salary range is determined by several compensable factors, including performance, knowledge, job-related skills and experience, and relevant education or training. This role is also eligible for S&C's annual incentive plan (AIP), subject to eligibility criteria.

Are you passionate about Facilities and Project Engineering? S&C Electric Company is seeking a dynamic individual to join our process engineering function. As a Controls Engineer III, you'll be crucial in ensuring smooth operations and supporting our diverse team.

The position leads ongoing improvement engineering tasks and capital improvement projects as assigned by the Manager-Process Engineering. The position will work with Operations, Quality, Facilities and Maintenance to identify, measure, analyze, improve and control performance of the feeder plant operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Providing electronic engineering and software programming for manufacturing process automation.
  • Connecting PLC and CNC equipment to a networked data collection system.
  • Develop and maintain human-machine interface (HMI) software for manufacturing process automation.
  • Develop and maintain PLC software for manufacturing process control equipment. Evaluate and specify electronic sensors for manufacturing process data acquisition. Oversee sensor installation and startup.
  • Assist maintenance staff with training technicians and maintenance of automation systems.
  • Responsible for training factory and support staff on newly implemented equipment and technology.
  • Work with Lean and manufacturing engineers on production line improvements.
  • Take the lead for updating facilities process and manufacturing data recording and retrieval processes.
  • Develop and support automation initiatives within the manufacturing facilities maintenance group.
  • Assist with the integration and programming of robotics and automation projects provided by third parties.
  • Develop and implement automation and integration methods that improve operations.


What you'll Need To Succeed:

Job Requirements (To select this job at a minimum you must have the following):
  • Bachelor's degree required (prefer BSEE or BSCS)
  • Experience in writing PLC codes for Rockwell (Allen-Bradley) or other industry standard PLC platforms such as Siemens and GE.
  • Experience in writing HMI code using any of the following software: Wonderware, FactoryTalk View ME/SE, RSView, and other industry standard graphical interfaces.
  • Familiarity with process controls, automation, material handling system assignments.
  • Experience with commissioning manufacturing equipment and system, startup and troubleshooting.
  • Strong knowledge base of servos, variable frequency drives and PLCs.
  • Experience with industrial process sensors and controls.
  • Experience with PM/TPM improvement implementation.
  • Ability to demonstrated problem solving and team facilitating skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.


Major Physical Demands:
  • Standing: Occasionally required to sit in a stationary position for hours at a time throughout the work day
  • Walking: Frequently walking throughout the facility
  • Carrying: Occasional carrying of light objects
  • Pushing: Infrequent pushing of objects
  • Observation/Eyesight: Frequently required to observe details at close range including depth perception, peripheral vision and the ability to differentiate between colors
  • Environment: Standard office
